Edimax connection options

I have an Edimax 6104 which is connected (cordlessly) to a laptop PC. I also have Mac that recognizes the network name but even when I put in the password, I get a message saying ?admin authorization needed?. Is there a procedure that would allow me to get to the connection settings in the Mac?

Make sure that when you connect, you?re signed in as ADMIN and not a USER. If that isn?t the problem, check in system preferences if the connection has to be secure or limited in any way.

Only power light goes on when I reconnect to electricity. WLAN and LAN lights stay off

It sonds like you are ethernet connected to the Edimax from your home computer. Can you access a wireless connection? If so Try This:
Unplug the ethernet connection between the PC and the router. Exchange the connection (The ethernet connected to the PC place it in the Edimax and Put the connection from the Edimax into the PC) Check to see if you have a connection light on both devices.
Reboot you Edimax and PC. First turn on the PC and let it power up to the desktop. Once the PC is on then power on the Edimax. Now check to see if you have a connection. If these steps don't work I suggest you try replacing the ethernet plug connected between both devices.

Good luck!

I've a Edimax 7284WnA Wireless N150 ADSL/+2 Modem Router. The problem is, whenever I use its wifi functionality with my sony laptop, the connection keeps disconnecting. Please note that the internet...

You are right, if your laptop has no issues except in your home, your laptop is not the problem. You should read the "Communication Failures" section of my tip entitled "Understanding Wireless Networks". You can read it here. You should troubleshoot this starting with the obvious... Are you in Range? Is there a device causing interference (cordless phones, other access points, microwaves)? If there are other WiFi Access Points in your range, verify that they are on a different channel than your router (you can do this with a free WiFi Scanner called "NetStumbler" or "InSSIDer"). If you follow my advice given in the article, and you still have issues, there is a possibility of the router's transmitter/receiver starting to fail.
I hope this helps,

I have recently purchased the wire/wireless

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

Edimax BR-6204WG: canNOT login to router website

The deal is that you can access that site only with the router identified by your connect. If you're trying to login from a different connection, it doesn't match the IP address. And it automatically locks it.
When the connection problem was resolved, the password and username worked.

Edimax Router BR-6204WG - setting as

I believe I can help.

As I understand you use your Siemens to get to Internet and you like to use another Edimax 6204 WL Router on another floor.

You don't have to change much !

First check if DHCP on your Siemens Router is ENABLED (it should be) !

- RESET your EDIMAX Router (to be sure everything is set by default)
and disconnect any LAN cables from it.
- If you are using Laptop (or desktop with WL adapter), connect it to your EDIMAX by LAN cable.

- Set (if it is not) LAN adapter IP and DNS of your Laptop/Desktop
to 'Obtain an IP address automatically'
If it was seto to some STATIC IP, after this you may need to 'REPAIR' your LAN connection
to get a new IP from your Edimax router

- Open your browser and type http://192.168.2.1
(admin + pass: 1234)

- Go to Wan port and check it. It should be set to Dynamic IP.

- Go to LAN settings and type IP address of the Edimax Router in the same Class
as Siemens Router is. (e.g. if Siemes router is 192.168.1.1 then Edimax should be 192.168.1.2)

- Change the DHCP range too, but be carefull this range should be different from DHCP range on your
Siemens router. (e.g. if Siemens router range is 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200, then you should
set Edimax DHCP range from 192.168.1.201 to 192.168.1.250)

- Now, connect the LAN cable from one of Siemens LAN port to WAN port of your Edimax.

That's it!

Now you may change SSID, Security, Time etc. on your Edimax router, and also try to connect via your Laptop's WL adapter. (also make sure it has no static IP address)

Hope this helped.

Configuring EDIMAX 6104 for Aztech 600E Router

Does your router automatically set the ip addresses for each computer, or do you have to set them up yourself? Is the computer that can connect the one that is directly connected to the modem? if it does and you asked windows to repair the connection it probably is messed up. check in the router settings to see if your pc's are on the same ip address route (e.g 192.168.x.x), but not all the same last digit; and the subnet masks are all the same (eg 255.255.255.0)
