You need ink to test print an image. even the alignment test tool uses ink to align the print heads. so without ink you cannot print anything!

Deskjet 930C won't print at all

Hi Mary,

Try the steps below

Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK.

(If you are using Windows Vista/Win 7, You need to click on START button and under search program and files - Enter the Services.msc and click the same program from Program list that appear )

In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right

Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties".

Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service".

Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them.

Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go.

Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.

The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic

Is there any way to disable the color cartridge in my HP 930c? I want to print only in black.

Under your printer preferences there is a way to print gray scale. SO even if your image is in color, it will print black and white. Every printer interface is different, but when you go to print, there's usually a properties or setting button that will bring you to another page from the initial print menu. here is where you would choose gray scale.

If you try for black with only a color cartridge, it'll come out a dark green or blue color. Or on some cases, it will tell you it's out of black and you can't print. Most HP printers need at both cartridges in the printer for it to print.

Trying to print and an orange light is constantly flashing, checked ink cartridges and paper jams but no problem there

I have had this same thing happen to my 960c! The ink cartridges were new/full (but must have been faulty). I replaced them with different/new ink cartridges, which solved the problem.

Another idea is to uninstall the printer and install it once again.

Good luck!

The colour is not printing anywhere near the same as the image, its very yellow I have done the cleaning and the test print shows the blue to be very pale and I have tried 3 new ink cartridges, I did print...

Great job on cleaning the cartridges and even trying 3 new ink cartridges. Pretty much you did the basic troubleshooting already. This looks like a hardware problem but I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark technical support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

Will not print text in documents, only headings.

When you go to print on your settings select print in black only. Did you buy Brother ink? Having old cartridges refilled or buying generic can pose a problem. I remember correctly brothers have a chip on the ink cartridge? I have gone through so many printers and its really not worth going any further, seems as though you have put sometime and effort in to this 100$ printer. Take 100$ & buy a kodak easy share all in one the ink is 15$ brand new.

Indicator light remains lit even though it is a full cartridge

It seems there are "new" chips & "old" chips in these ink cartridges for the HP 1200 inkjet printer. I have a cartridge with a "new" chip in and it is working fine. The printer doesn't read the "old" chips. Something to watch for when using refilled ink cartridges.

HP DeskJet 930c is leaking black ink

The printer primes and cleans the cartridges when the cartridges go to the right side of carriage. Sounds like a cartridge has either leaked or you have used it enough the the ink pool is full, or you have layed the printer on its side or back. From experence, if ink is leaking out of the printer, your probley better off getting anithe printer. I have tried to take the covers off and clean inside print, and it is a messy job.
