You have to reset the device: 1. Lock and then unlock the IPOD using the Hold button. 2. continually press both the Menu and Select buttons at the same time until the apple logo shows up(this should take 6-10 seconds). You might have to repeat the step several times. If running into problems during resetting place the device on a flat surface and make sure that while pressing Select you?re not touching the touch wheel, and that you?re pressing Menu on the outer part of the wheel and not towards the center. If that didn?t work try connecting it to a wall electricity socket or the PC and see if it effects the situation in any way. Good Luck

ITunes screen freezes on connecting the iPod. The ipod is not detected by iTunes even in disk mode. No menu of iTunes opens up when iPod is connected

if itunes is freezing when connecting the ipod then 1 of 2 things are happening

the ipod has an error on the disk and needs to be replaced or your anti- virus is going to scan your ipod for virus and can because its an ipod -

so test your ipod with another cpu that will tell you alot

if it freezes itunes on 2 different cpu then its the ipod -if it works fine then its your anti-virus - you need to disable or remove

norton is Nestorius for this

Screen gone dark

It is natural to ipod the screen will be dark if has no power unless the LCD of your iPod is defected even it has a power its remain dark that’s the symptom of defected LCD screen. I hope your problem is a power failure only. Make sue your iPod is fully charged and then toggle the hold switch on and off. Then reset your iPod nano; Toggle the Hold switch on and off,(Slide it to Hold then it off again). Then press and Hold the Menu and Center (select0 buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears ,about 6 to 10 seconds .You may need to repeat this step . If you having difficulty resetting your iPod set it on a flat surface .Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel,and not near the center. Then If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try your iPod nano with a different USB port on your computer, not a USB port on your keyboard or hub. iPod will stop charging if the computer, or portable computer, it's connected to enters standby, hibernation, or sleep mode. To charge your iPod, connect it directly to a computer's USB port and make sure standby, hibernation, or sleep mode is turned off. If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged in to a power source and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge properly. If you have an Apple iPod USB power adapter you'll be able to charge your iPod without leaving your computer powered on. If all procedure above for power to on is not working then its better to replaced the battery with anew one so its works normal again.

Hope it may help you;
Regards;

Best thing to do is to reset the ipod
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Ipod nano and ipod video 5th generation

First off, simply press the center and menu buttons at the same time to reset the iPod video. That is the common way to fix a frozen iPod.

In regards to the Nano, sounds like the scroll wheel is defective. We would recommend replacing the scroll wheel if a reset does not do the trick.

Ipod wont connect to computer

Have you tried to just do a re-set? Toggle the hold switch on then off, then hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time. Keep holding them until the screen flashes, then release. This basically reboots the ipod. If you can get to the main menu on the ipod, you should also be able to find a settings menu which should have a default selection, which should also re-set the player. If neither of these work, you'll have to try putting it back into disk mode and doing a restore if iTunes can find the player. You might also try connecting it to a different computer and seeing if it is found. If you can get any computer to recognize the player as a hard drive, you can re-format it using the windows software, then you can re-store using itunes.

The firmware restart combination is Select+Menu, hold until the Apple Logo appears. This should fix your problem, if it doesn't I can help you from there.
