You have to reset the device:
1. Lock and then unlock the IPOD using the Hold button.
2. continually press both the Menu and Select buttons at the same time until the apple logo shows up(this should take 6-10 seconds). You might have to repeat the step several times.
If running into problems during resetting place the device on a flat surface and make sure that while pressing Select you?re not touching the touch wheel, and that you?re pressing Menu on the outer part of the wheel and not towards the center.
If that didn?t work try connecting it to a wall electricity socket or the PC and see if it effects the situation in any way.
I LOVE YOU! YOU KEPT MY IPOD ALIVE AND I EVEN WENT TO APPLE ITSELF BEFORE YOU!

You should be able to recalibrate the screen from the display menu.if not then you nmay be able to adjust the aspect ratio from within the menu settings or remote control.it sounds as if it has selected zoom instead of widescreen 16:9 or normal.
Hmm - does this still happen even if you reset all the settings on the TV to factory default? Other things might be;
1) You're the victim of a prank.
2) Try and use the buttons on the TV to navigate the menu screen, instead of the remote.
3) Call NEC support. They'll usually help with this even if its not on warranty.
If you are using a Cable Box, make sure that CC is off. Same applies to a satellite receiver. If you don't have either of those then I would contact your service center to have it looked at. The micro is the only thing that can cause that, providing your sure about how to turn the closed caption off in the menu. Try that way first, instead of using the CC on the remote.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!
I handed the remote back to my visiting 4 yr old granddaughter and asked her if she could make the words go away.......she showed me the "language" button on the cable remote and told me she likes to see the words so she can "read" them. Ya'll need a new "expert"? she works cheap.....red suckers.
I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.
EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Possibly the closed caption feature on this set has been turned on. There is a button on the remote control that says Caption. Press it until you turn the caption off. This will not be on a universal remote, only the original remote. You can also turn this off through the caption section on your on-screen menu.
