I switched on the camera to take a photo. The camera didnt get dropped or had contact with dirt. The zoom lense is reeled out but wont trell in when switched off. Besides the image is blurry and it tells me that its a zoom error. What can I do except for sending it straight in? Thank you =)

When I turn on the camera it says "The zoom did not operate normally, insert the battery again and turn the camera on..."
i reset my cammera but problem still please guide me
Have you actually cleaned the contacts or are you just looking at them and they "look" clean? Clean them with a cotton swab lightly dampened in rubbing alcohol.
this problem appears when the zoom motor starts malfuntion the remeady of its is to replace the zoom motor (if comopnent level repir is availble in ur area) other wise u have to scan complete lense block assembly. u didnt mention model no.
The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.
if the lens is detachable take it off and clean the contacts there could just be some dirt on them if not make sure the switch on the lense is set to A not M hope this helps
If the camera was on when it was dropped you probably jamed the lense coil. The lense coil is what helps the camera smoothly pull in the lense and back out. Now, just to specify, what exactly are you having a problem with? Will the actual lense not go back into the camera when you turn it off; or can you not get your camera off zoom?
Let me know~

I believe the FZ7 determines that the lense cap is still on when it can't extend the zoom lense because the lense cap is in the way. I would check to see if your zoom lense housing is somehow stuck (could be sand or dirt in it) which is creating enough resistance to make the camera think the lense cap is impeding the zoom lense from extending.
