What are the Firewall options?

If your computer is connected to a network or the Internet, it is advisable to use computer security tools, such as a firewall, to protect your computer from unauthorized access or viruses. Windows operating systems come with a built-in firewall, malware protection and Internet security. These settings are automatically configured to the factory's default settings when you purchase the operating system. To alter the settings for these security features, access the Windows Security utility through your system's Control Panel.

Open the "Windows Security" utility by opening your "Start" menu and selecting the "Control Panel" option on the right-hand side. Windows XP users can click on the "Security Center" link in this window. For Vista users, click on the "Security" option, and then click on "Windows Security Center." Click on the "Windows Firewall" option to change the settings for your firewall, if you are using XP. You can turn the firewall on or off, and also configure which programs are allowed through the firewall. Vista users should click on the "Windows Firewall" link in the left window pane and click on the "Change settings" link. In this window, you can block programs from passing through your firewall and grant access to new programs. Click the "Internet Options" selection to configure your Internet security settings. You can raise or lower the security level for different zones using preset configurations, or you can create a custom security level. You can also reset the Internet security level to its default settings. Click on "Automatic Updating" in the Windows Security Center to configure your system's update settings. In Vista operating systems, click on "Windows Update" and "Change Settings." You can configure your update settings to automatically check for updates daily or weekly. You can also set a convenient time for your system to update to prevent interruption. Automatic updating can be turned off by selecting the corresponding option toward the bottom of the window. Select the "Malware Protection" option to edit malware settings if you are using Vista. This option is not available in XP's version of Windows Security Center. You can turn the malware protection programs on or off using the arrow to the right of the "Malware Protection" bar. Click the "X" button to exit Windows Security Settings.

HI. It all depends on what type of firewall you have activated. There is a Windows native firewall that is standard issued with your OS. There is also what I call a stand alone independent firewall that will be an integrated part of your aftermarket virus program. That firewall can be pulled up by double clicking on your virus software icon on the bottom right hand corner of the task-bar. Once you have pulled up that window; Navigate through the options to gain access to the fire wall settings to check the status.

Now; to access the windows native firewall, start by clicking on the control panel link in your start menu. Once the control panel has opend, Double right click on the Windows Firewall icon in the list. Once the icon is clicked; you will see the Windows Firewall window pop up. You can check the status of the native firewall there, among other options, as well.

click on start, then go to control pannel...you should see windows firewall options just double click it,,the open it make sure click on the option button "on (recomended)" this will turn your firewall on permanently

click on start and then control panel in control panel you will see the option of windows firewall choose that and there is option of on and off choose the off option .it will disable the firewall .
but one more thing it will harm to you computer if firewall is off.

When you are trying to open a third party application on the BlackBerry smartphone, the following error message is displayed: The application {application name} has attempted to open a connection inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy. This issue is caused by a restriction in the BlackBerry smartphone's firewall.
To remove the firewall restriction, complete the following steps:

1. On your BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Security Options > Firewall.
2. De-select Enterprise Messaging.
3. If this does not work, turn off the firewall by selecting Disable in the Status field. If you are not able to turn off the firewall, contact your IT Administrator as there is an IT policy restricting your firewall settings.

To disable your firewall (assuming it's windows)

1. Click on Start > Control Panel
2. Click the security tab
3. Then you'll see a tab called windows firewall
4. Under it, it should say turn windows firewall on/off

disable firewall for a while then try

in a firewall system..usually there is a option were you can add trusted site and application.. try searching that option within you firewall software and add the site URL and or the application you want to unblock.
