Power OFF the Cable/DSL Modem, then the Router and wait for couple of minutes. Now power ON the Cable/DSL Modem First, after the modem gets initialized, Power ON the router.

Turn the modem and router off. Turn the modem on and let it cycle up for about a minute or two, then plug the router in and let it cycle up.

If you turn the system off at night or if a power outage in the house occurs then when things are turned back on both the modem and router starts cycling up. If the router finishes cycling up before the modem, you will have connection problems.

Did this connection used to work but has suddenly stopped? "Power cycle" your router and modem. To do this, unplug both the modem and the router from the power outlet. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then plug in the router. Try to connect the Wii, Nintendo DS, or Nintendo 3DS online and test for proper response.
Erase your old connection settings on the Wii and set up a new one, as your router's settings may have changed since you last connected. We suggest following our guide to create a new connection file and start over.

Unable to connect to internet through Linksys WRT160N router. Can unplug it and internet is fine. Tried power cycling the modem and router. Linksys comes up with all lights flashing and will not...

If I understand your problem correctly, you are able to connect to the Internet when you hook the computer directly to the modem, but not when the router is connected to the modem.
If this is the case, then you need to do a power drain on the modem. Power cycling the modem is not enough to clear the NVRAM of the MAC address of your computer. You have to unplug the power cord of the modem for 15 to 20 minutes in order for the NVRAM to reset and allow the modem to recognize the MAC address of the router.
After the modem has been unplugged for 15 to 20 minutes, disconnect the power cable from the router and then connect router to the modem using the Ethernet cable.
Next with the router power cord still disconnected, plug in the power cord of the modem and allow the modem to sync to the network.
Once the modem is finished with its start-up, plug-in the power cord of the router and let it sync to the network.
After the modem has completed its start-up, it should now be connected to the internet.

Im trying to connect my ps3 to my wireless router. it has recently stopped working. is there anything i can do?

Sure! Try this:
1 Turn your network off. Modem router, computer, printers etc. turn them off.
2. Leaving the wireless router connected to the modem with an ethernet cable (modem power off) , turn your wifi router on and let it cycle up.
3. After the router is cycled up, turn power on to your modem , leaving the ethernet cable connected to the wifi router's internet port. Let the modem cycle up .
4. After this, turn on all computers, routers and etc... no particular order.
This should allow your modem to find the wifi router and direct it to your computer via wifi or ethernet..

How do i set up without the installation cd

Try this after you've pressed the small reset button on your router follow this procedure:

Turn off your modem, routers, computer, and wifi receivers, and laptops and printers on the network.
Connect the Wifi router with an internet cable to the modem. The router will have an internet input port (ethernet) that should be labeled differrent than the rest of the ethernet ports on the router. Plug the ethernet into the internet or modem port on the router, and to the modem...DON'T TURN THE MODEM ON YET.
Turn your router's power on and let it cycle up.
Then after the router is up, turn on your modem and let it cycle up. It will find your router as the main MAC address and this will establish communication between router and the internet via modem.
After your modem is cycled and all lights are correct, you can turn on any computer, printer etc... and the router will assign MAC addresses to your printer etc while maintaining a proper internet connection.

that's all you should need...Since you already have a working modem to pc... remember this "firing order" and if you have a power outage or have to move again, you'll be good to go.

Cant connect!

- Try to power cycle the Motorola modem and the router for 5 minutes.
- After 5, turn On first the modem, make sure all the lights of the modem are stable before plug in the router.
- If this procedure doesn't work then I suggest that you might need to update the firmware of your router.
