Is there something else i can use to replace the felt seal without buying a whole new drum on a maytag neptune model MDE9700AYW

you can purchase new felt from most appliance parts suppliers , in your area that handles the Maytag devices.

Hi - these are used to minimize the metal to metal contact of the drum & housing.

One will need to remove the top & front panels to gain access to remove the drum, afix felt to end in question and assemble the machine again.

The gliders are a piece of hard plastic that set on the frame, the peice that holds the drum, their is 4 of them and they are on top of the frame, the felt liner is what supports the bottom of the drum on the fram.

rollers bad/ the felt or sticky stuff was insulation

the problem is with its motherboard .. i too had the same problem.. ask the repairing persons to change the motherboard if it is warranted. ( but there is no other way)..

Give this site a try. Some guy on the forum had the Neptune issue and found a replacement seal. There are some how-to videos on YouTube(may not be your specific dryer, but same idea.) I'll let you have the joy of looking on YT.


Maytag Neptune Dryer MDE9700AYW Felt Drum Liner

We have the same machine. The drum also broke so we had it professionally installed. It wasn't done well enough and after the 90 day repair warranty, other problems developed. We still don't have a dryer and the next repair is $500 as other parts were damaged and we didn't catch it within the 90 days.
Bottom line: do have it professionally installed but be sure to ask about their work guarantee. As soon as you have any problem at all, call them back.

you have to buy a new one if the felt seal is still good use contact cement on the drub and seal to put back on with need any more help let me know
