White stains on dishes and clogging film in the sink. Plumber snaked sink and mentioned we need to change the filter in our kenmore elite dish washer.  Don't know where the filter is orb how to find it.  Any suggestions.

Check the temperature of the water. Should be 120 deg. Also are you using powder or liquid? Liquid dissolved a lot quicker that powder. So liquid is actually better to use. Try running the hot water at the sink until it gets hot before running the dishwasher. Also you may want to try mixing half cascade liquid and half lemon shine.

Check the following:
- The Salt Container - Found at the bottom of the Dishwasher. (If required, replenish salt)
- The spray arms (They usually get clogged at the small holes where the water should spray out of)
- Us less heat (High heat can leave white visible stains on glass)

Not draining may either need new drain motor. or something is blocking the drain pipe.

Spots on dishes means you are using to much detergent or the wrong kind of detergent.

Your owners manuel should tell you what type to use.
