The product is no longer supported because Sharper Image recalled the units after losing a lawsuit against Consumer Reports forcing them into Chapter 11.

My Quadra Ionic Breeze, has a small glowing fire within it at the base. There is a smell of plastic/electric burn. Though the odor did cover the odors in my house, I think I have a fire hazzard on my...

the ionic breeze uses high voltage to move/filter air .. if the insulators break down there will be an arc such as what you see .. there is a way to dig out the carbonized material and seal it with materials that can handle the high voltage but any repairs are costly .. its unlikely you can repair it for less than a new conventional filter .. the ionic breeze was unique and expensive but didn't move a lot of air ..it was quiet but often produced some ozone .. long exposure to ozone is not a good thing .. here is a site where you can learn more about your unit

check out where it says "Consumer Reports court case" ... that said, the electrostatic concept does probably remove small particles that are hard to do with conventional filters .. the arcing you see in your unit is indeed not safe . ... here is more that you likely don't want to hear..

I believe that the motor on my Ionic Breeze unit is broken. Can I replace it??

Ionic breeze units don't have motors. I thought they just moved the air by ionization.

The unit might need to be cleaned. Check you owners manual or the manufacturer for instructions.

There is a red blinking light and it is not cleaning.

My Ionic Breeze would work for a short time after cleaning and the blue light would start flashing and the unit would stop working. I checked the wall cube power adapter with a volt meter. It was putting out only 10 volts instead of the needed 12 volts. It seems The Ionic Breeze needs a full 12-13 volts to work. So I went to Radio Shack and bought a universal 12 volt 800ma power adapter. I checked the voltage in the new adapter, it was 13 volts. This fixed the flashing blue light problem. However the Ionic Breeze produces harmful Ozone gas, so I don't use it anymore.

Ionic breeze stopped working

Check inside the unit to see if the two very fine wires which run from top to bottom are intact. My guess is one of them is broken, You'll need a very good flashlight to see them. If they are broken, tech service is the best way to get them fixed. Check your user manual for the service procedure -- if you don't have one let me know.

1-800-344-5555 or at [email protected] however they're unlikely to reply. I understand that they've gone bankrupt.

Flashing lights on Model 1871

I wonder how many others are having this problem? It sounds like the wiring "went out" about the same time on all of these. Strange how it went bad just after the warranty ran out too. Something is fishy here. Planned obselescence? Anyone know a good attorney. Sounds like a good class action suit. I have two units. Bought them at the same time and both started flashing at the same time.
