Do this to change from routing mode to bridging mode, which allows your MN-500 to act as a wireless access point. Important: If you follow the procedures I've listed below instead of the procedures documented in the MN-500 User Guide, you will not lose the ability to administer the MN-500. This will give you the ability to change the SSID, channel, and encryption key if needed without performing a factory reset of the base station and starting from scratch. 1. While logged into the BSMT, click the Local Area Network link and access the Settings page. 2. Change the IP address from the default (192.168.2.1) to another IP in the same range and set the DHCP server to disabled using the list. Click Apply. In the example shown above, I've changed the IP to 192.168.2.252. Wait for all lights to turn green on the base station. 3. Open the BSMT again using the new IP. Use your Web browser and navigate to http://192.168.2.252 and enter your password if prompted. You will not be able to open the BSMT from the Microsoft Broadband Networking Utility (BNU). 4. Click Security, and then click Network Mode. 5. Click Bridging mode, and then click Apply. 6. Disconnect your computer from the MN-500 but do not disconnect the power from the MN-500 because it may take several minutes for the hardware to restart in access point (bridging) mode.

Aironet 340 Series Bridge For Software Version 8.65 or Later If you forget the password that allows you to configure the 340 bridge through the console port, you must completely reset the configuration. Complete these steps in order to delete the current configuration and return all settings to the factory defaults:
  1. Use a straight-through cable with 9-pin male to 9-pin female connectors in order to connect the COM 1 or COM 2 port on your computer to the RS-232 port on the bridge.
For more information, refer to the Cabling Guide for Console and AUX Ports.
  2. Open a terminal-emulation program on your computer.
Note: These instructions describe HyperTeminal. Other programs are similar.
  3. Enter a name in the Connection Description window.
  4. Select an icon for the connection.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Connect To window, use the Connect using pull-down menu in order to select the port where the cable is connected.
  7. Click OK.
  8. In the Port Settings window, make these selections:
    • Bits per second (baud): 9600
    • Data bits: 8
    • Parity: None
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Flow Control: None
  9. Click OK.
  10. In the Connection Description window, enter a name and select an icon for the connection.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Press Enter.
  13. When the Main Menu screen appears, reboot the bridge.
Turn the unit off and then back on.
  14. When the bridge reboots and the Main Menu screen reappears, enter 2 in order to choose Reset.
  15. Press Enter.
  16. Enter Yes.
  17. Press Enter in order to confirm the command.
  18. After the bridge reboots and the Express Setup screen appears, reconfigure the bridge with the terminal emulator or an Internet browser.

Wireless hub

No, you do not have to have the broadband software installed. To access the MS base station go to : http://192.168.2.1/login.htm Using it as a hub and access point requires you to configure is as such. The MN700 can act as a hub/wireless access point using an ethernet cable from your router to the modem port on the base station. The base station has to be setup with the ethernet cable in port 1 on the base station connected to your PC. see "Reconfigure the MN-500 as a Wireless Bridge" in this article. same steps apply for your MN700 http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?thid=102065&prdid=254958 The last step is to reconnect the ethernet cable from the router to the modem port on the MN700.
