The following article will describe how to setup Comcast High Speed Internet with a Linksys Router:
Connecting your cable modem to the Router
1. First connect directly to your Cable modem without the router and verify that you can get on line.
2. Once you've verified that you can get onto the internet without the router please proceed. If you can not please contact your ISP for further assistance.
3. Now unplug the Ethernet cable that connects to your DSL modem from the back of your computer.
4. Take the connection that you just unplugged from the back of your computer and connect it to the WAN port of the router.
5. Take a different Ethernet cable and plug it into port closest to the WAN port, or into the LAN port.
6. Look on the front of the router. The following lights should be illuminated:
- Power
- WAN Link
- Link/Act (On the port that you connected your computer to)
- Note If other lights other than Link/Act are illuminated on this port, that is normal
- You may have a few other lights illuminated depending on the model number router you have, but the 3 above must be illuminated for proper connection.

Power-off & power-on the router, to reset it.
Otherwise, the router is capable of 1 Gigabit (1000 Megabit) throughput, so it should _not_ be the "bottleneck" (unless you are paying your Internet Service Provider for speeds faster than that!!!)
Your Internet service provider is comcast cable company. You need to open the setup page of the router and change the Internet connection settings manually.
Connect the computer to the router and modem to the router. Open the setup page of the router using 192.168.1.1 Click on MAC address clone. Enable it and click save settings. Power cycle the router and your main computer will be online. Then you can change the wireless settings manually.
Linksys has wonderful customer support. Call 1-800-326-7114 and they will have you up and running in minutes. I have the same router and have called a few times and was pleasantly surprised.
If you are on cable internet, you need to perform MAC Address Cloning. Access the router's setup page using your main PC, under SETUP tab, there's a sub-tab called MAC Address Clone. Enable that and click on "Clone My PC's MAC" then click on Save Settings. Power cycle the router and the modem. You should be online after that.
If you want to use the wireless portion of your router, you would need a wireless adapter installed on your desktop. If you are getting internet on your desktop then this means that your wired connection is fine to the router is fine. The WMP54G adapter will work with your router, however if you are not planning on connecting to the internet wirelessly through the router then there is no need to purchase the adapter. Hope that this helps you out.
make sure that internet connection working fine first..if it is connect you xbox via wired or wireless(if wireless, make sure that you connect to your own wireless network and enter the wireless security if there is)...check if you can get an ip address, better set to obtain the ip address and dns of your xbox, if all set and still unable to access internet, access the linksys router setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your internet explorer, when pop-up for username and password type admin under password, leave it empty for the username. Click administration tab and disabled UPnP. Check if your X-BOX working fine. Hope this help you.
