Hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds or more and the router will be restored to factory defaults. This also means that your configuration will be set to factory defaults also, so if your router is configured for your ISP you may loose your connection until you set the unit up again. The default password for the router is admin in lower case letters.

The default password is "admin" with the username as "admin" as well. If you have changed the password and forgotten it, then feel free to reset the router to factory settings by keeping the Reset button on the router pressed for more than 30 seconds.
Linksys routers are simple home based or small network based routers. So unless you have set up your router for some special functions, you won't lose anything that you can't set up again.
Do you have a Linksys router and you have forgotten your password or you want to reset the password to the default. Firstly you must have physical access to the router. This article is basically for WRT54g and model BEFW11S4 If you have changed the password from the default password and have forgotten the default or your router did not come with any documentation. To regain access to the router try the following. In the username field leaveit blank and in the password field type admin
Username / leave blank password / admin The Rest Button on a Linksys Router
To reset the router While the back of your router might look different, the reset button is usually clearly marked. To reset the router to the default password, insert something thin--like a pencil point--and depress the red button. Hold that for a few seconds. The password for your Linksys router should have reverted to its default. Try accessing it from a machine that is plugged directly into it. The default address is usually http://192.168.1.1. When you gain access to the router then you can change the password to any word of your choice.
Hi, If you have forgotten the router password you can reset it. To do this, turn the router upside down and look for a small pinhole that says reset. Get a stapler and press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. The router will reset to factory defaults and you will be able to login again using the default username and password. For linksys routers is "admin" for both fields.
HI Friend You have to upgrade the firmware of your router. To do this please follow the steps
1. Open the website www.linksys.com/download 2. Enter the model number of your router and hit enter 3. Now click on Get downloads and drivers 4. Select the version number of your router and scroll down a little. 5. To your left you will see Downloads and under that you will see Firmware 6.Click firmware and save it to your desktop 7. Now again open internet explorer and in the address bar 192.168.1.1 and hit enter 8. If you have not changed the default password of the router then leave the user name blank and in password type admin and hit enter. 9.Now click Administration and under that click Upgrade firmware. 10. Select the file and that you have saved on your desktop and click upgrade. 11.After upgrade turn off the router for 30 seconds.
This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).
All you have to do to reset the password on the router is to reset the router. You just have to find the reset button and hold it for about 15 seconds. If you have any problems with reseting just look at this pdf.
It sound to me that you have a wireless card in your laptop and you are picking up your neighbors wireless router!!!! which has no SSID set, thus "default" and has no encryption set, thus "unsecured network". Turn off your wireless adapter
The only security on a Non-Wireless router is turning on the firewall. It should be enabled by default. The other thing would be to change the password on your router, but since you do not have a wireless router, then it is pointless, unless you do not want someone in your house to access the router settings and make changes. Ever then, if someone in your house that is physically connected to the router with a "cable" could alway walk to the router and stick a pin in the the "reset" hole in the back of the router to reset wipe any changes that was made, so a password is pointless as far as I am concerned for non-wirelss routers.
open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1
Admin User name: Leave it blank
Password: admin
Once you login you can change your password if you like.
