Hi,
For that error do a complete uninstall of Yahoo Messenger. Then reboot and fresh download. Please read full instructions below.
--------------------------------------...
COMPLETE UNINSTALL OF YAHOO MESSENGER
Please note that doing a clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger will erase your message archives so read here about how to copy them http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

First uninstall Yahoo! Messenger through add/remove programs.

If you want to do a total clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger then also navigate to Program Files on your hard drive and delete the Messenger folder inside of the Yahoo Folder. Follow this path (XP): My Computer>>C: drive>>Program Files>>Yahoo>>Messenger. Reboot your computer (important!).

If you have a trusted registry scanner use it now. If you do not have a trusted registry scanner that you are familiar with than skip this step because you can mess things up if you do not know what you are doing. I personally use CCleaner but then I have been using it for years and know how to use the Registry scanner portion safely. Using any of these types of programs is USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Make sure you know how to create a system restore point and backup any of the Registry files it changes.

It is important that now you reboot your computer. Now download and install Yahoo messenger again using the following link: Full Installer for Yahoo Messenger latest version.

The older version of the IM software no longer works.

If you are sure you have the correct password, I would start with changing your user name that you are signing in with. Sometimes yahoo seems to want the "@yahoo.com" with the user name, and sometimes it does not.

If adding or removing the "@yahoo.com" part of the user name doesn't help, go through the "forgotten user name and password" steps.

Error 81003002

You may be have 3 options to solve your problems:

Try this:-

1. Go to Messenger>Connection Preferences> then, you choose either connection directly to the internet or connect via a proxy server, and then choose type of internet connection>OK>Sign in again... let's try this, may be you can solve this problem. OR

2. Maybe, i think you should check your firewall settings. If you use Personal Firewall, make sure it allows your connection to receiving incoming connections and allows you to use yahoo messenger, check it out, may be it blocked your yahoo messenger. OR

3. Open your Internet Explorer>Go to File>Then, 'uncheck Work Offline', make sure your Internet connection is not working offline. Then, close Internet Explorer, try to sign in your yahoo messenger.

Good Luck!
