Depending on the laptop, there can sometimes be a button towards the top of the keyboard that can turn it off. If there isn't one, sometimes with Dell's there is a key combination (Fn + one of the F1-F12 keys) that will toggle it on and off. If you have another mouse attached, you can go to Start>Control Panel>Mouse and select the touchpad and click "Disable". (Only do this if you have another mouse attached as you will not be able to reverse it without a mouse)

Touch pad sensitivity

Click Start/Control Panel and look for the Mouse or Touchpad and go in and change the settings or select the Default Settings.

If you sell have a problem after playing with the settings then just go download and reinstall the driver.

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the touchpad drivers.

Unlock the mouse in dell inspiron m5030

1) Examine your "Function"/"F" keys and look for a touchpad icon. If you find one, hold the "Fn" key and press the touchpad icon button to unlock the touchpad. Move on to Step 2 if your laptop doesn't support this feature.

  • 2) Plug a USB mouse into an open port on your laptop. Click the Windows "Start" button. Click "Control Panel" in Windows XP and double-click "Device Manager." Type "Device" in the search box in Vista and Windows 7 and click "Device Manager" from the results.
  • 3) Click "+" next to "Mice and other pointing devices." Right-click the touchpad and select "Enable." Your touchpad is now unlocked.

    Hi c_louise_moo,

You can find some instructions on disabling the touchpad here:

http://www.labnol.org/software/disable-touchpad-on-laptop/14052/and this link has a piece of freeware called TouchPad Pal which allows you to disable the touchpad while you're typing (which should be the only time it gets in the way really) http://download.cnet.com/TouchpadPal/3000-2084_4-11143760.html

    Hope it helps.

There is no option to set up touchpad buttons on a M5030 to 'right-click'? What do i do?

    Hi darkracex...
Click on Start>Click on Control Panel>Click on Personalization>Click on Change Mouse Pointers>Click on "Buttons"...this is where you will personalize your mouse/touch pad.
This is also where you will find your touchpad model.
It will be listed in the drop down list.
Llisted under "Devices" on the same page.
If this does not solve your problem...reinstall your drivers.

My mouse is frozen please help

try to restart the pc and check if the touchpad will still act on it. If not, try to use an external mouse and check if it works. Otherwise call Dell to possibly repair your touch pad..
