I have a 24 inch soyo lcd monitor and it won't show any display, I ruled it out being a computer issue and wondering how I fix it. If I press the + button on the monitor the screen gets a little lighter but thats it and won't show any image at all. any suggestions? thanks

Your windows 7 screen resolution is set too high and your display doesn't support it. There are 3 possible solutions to this problem: 1. Press F8 during startup and choose "Enable row-resolution video" 2. Press F8 during startup and choose "Safe mode" and change screen resolution there, then reboot. 3. You can always use another display (if you have one) to set screen resolution to lower value.
this is not a pc problem... this is because the connection loss between pc and monitor... not all pc's have sleep mode in externa vga connection.... it just cuts power off... u can configure monitor of possible to do that..
Display won't turn on? You mean the screen is blank? If so it can be that the lcd screen is bad, the lcd inverter is bad or the vga video card is bad. You can narrow down the problem by plugging in an external monitor into the laptop then press FN+F8 keys to get the display on the external monitor. If it shows on the external that means the video card is ok. If the video is ok remove the external monitor and reboot again. Use a flashlight and shine it on the display if you can bearly see the icons in the background, that means the lcd inverter is bad and needs to be replaced. If you see nothing and the computer has booted up, the fans are running the lights on the right under the lcd shows the disk blinking and the powerlight is on, then you probably have a motherboard issue. When you power up the compute press F8 key then enter in :"Enable vga mode" then go to display property and set screen resolution to 1024*768. Then check . If still same then enter in safe mode and uninstall graphic driver then start computer normal mode then install graphic driver. Also in safe mode go to start->run type in run "chkdsk /r" then press ok then press "y" then restart computer then it fix and recovers error on harddrive. Let me know if you need further assistance. What size monitor were you using before? If you were using a smaller monitor and everything was fine maybe this new monitor is out of range for the graphics card. I've found that not all graphics cards, especially older ones, will not run a monitor as large as 24 inches. If you can, connect this new 24 inch monitor to a computer with a more powerful graphics card. If it works then you will know that the problem is with your computer. Also connect your old monitor and go into control panel and see what range and resolution your graphics card will support. You may need a more powerful card to run the new monitor.
