If you are inclined to be adventurous I would try opening it up and check if the battery still has any voltage on it with a multimeter. (Shere is a little shield shaped sticker on the back that covers a screw for the battery cover). Since the battery died on mine about a year ago I have been running my Sport from a set of 4 AAA NiMH rechargeable cells. The fact that it does not respond to the PC suggests that the USB connector may have gotten damaged so it is not making a proper connection to charge the battery anymore. If you have this problem you are probably out of luck, unless you are good with a soldering iron and can replace the connector on the PCB - It is a very common type. But check with another USB cable first, (like I said, a very common type) AND make sure there is no damage to the connectors at the PC end.

Good luck!

Archos 2 OC won't charge and is not recognised by laptop

Sometimes with mp3 players the cable is the one that is mostly damaged. Try replacing this cable and try again. It actually has happened to me on two different mp3 players. Cables are always faulty.

My mp3 player wont charge but will turn on when pouted in

connect the Sansa (via the player's USB cord) to different USB ports on the computer until the Sansa starts to charge. A weak or non-working USB port won't charge the Sansa.

  • Reset the Sansa MP3 player. Slide the player's "Power" switch all the way up to the "On" position. Hold the switch in that position for 20 seconds. The Sansa resets. Try to charge the player.
  • Install the latest firmware onto the Sansa MP3 player. Download the Sansa Firmware Updated (link in References), and then click the link in Resources for the specific model of Sansa you own to learn how to update the player's firmware.

Computer working perfectly fine one day, the next computer won't turn on for no apparent reason. when switching the power button on, computer begins to boot up for a brief moment, then automatically...

It's probably your logic board. One thing you can try that may help you out is to take out the battery (if you can) and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. If it's a capacitor problem on the board that should discharge it. If that doesn't work then you should probably try to turn on the computer while holding CMD + Option + P + R to reset the PRAM. If that doesn't work then you're probably going to have to seek professional help.

Won't come on after charging in usb hub

Depending on how long you've had the player, the batteries may need replacing.

I have seen a problem where the computer would not recognize the player and would not charge it, however.

First, I recommend trying to charge it directly from the computer USB port (not the hub) if possible. If that doesn't help, try reinstalling the software for the player to see if the computer will then recognize it and allow charging.

If neither of these fix the problem, it's probably time to replace the batteries.

    Good luck!
