Vizio, Model P4, manufactured in 2003 -- worked fine until 5 minutes ago

We have had this TV since we bought it at Costco years ago. It has worked fine, until about 5 minutes ago. TRUE, the remote stopped working years ago (and that was a big disappointment), so we have turned it "on & off" at the TV button, as well as volume adjust there too (the channels worked through digital cable remote, but that remote won't work for "on-off" or "volume'). So, for years, as I have said, the TV is turned on at switch. My wife went to turn it on (as usual) a few minutes ago, and nothing happened. None of the 4-5 switches seem to work now. So, TV won't turn on at all. Any suggestions?

I have the same tv and the same problem. The power switch in the front flashes a bunch of times, but nothing else happens. Have you had any success in getting yours fixed?

SOURCE: You have been assigned to my problem with my Vizio P4

I opened the chat but could not type anything to respond to you.
You can let write to [email protected] and ask for a refund or not to be charge for the chat that could not be established.
The failure with your TV could be a power supply but in order to know that for sure, the voltages will need to be measured. This procedure will require you to open the back cover of the plasma and to know how to use a voltmeter.
This type of repair might not be a DIY because of the danger of electrical shock when working with high voltages.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

The manufacturer usually have a year warranty on their equipment. Look through your info and contact the company. Let them know that the audio decoder in the TV has failed and that you request further action on their part. Make sure you have your receipt handy. Oh, you did register it right? if not do that now with the info you have on when you bought it. (lots of times it doesn't matter if you register it late or not so-long as you have proof of purchase)

It's possible that your sustainers are going bad. These are the two boards that goes vertically on both sides of the TV.

Vizio VX37L 37'' LCD HDTV Television not turning on

Unplug set and hold and press the power button for about a minute. Replug set and turn it on. If nada, then the issue is with the power supply of the set. Given its age and the high cost of repairs it might be more cost effective to get a new set.

Screen went black on Vizio 42" plasma TV

The cost to repair it might not be a worry, parts for those types of sets are not available, the plasma style sets are replaced by LCD/LED.

Can't change channel using the remote or buttons on tv

Simple Fix

I had the same problem, couldn't change the channels with the remote or on the side of the TV. This was for a Vizio 37"

Here is the fix:

1. Turn on TV

2. With remote, press the Menu Button

3. Go to Antenna Menu

4. Select Auto Search
Let it search, it could take several minutes. It may not finish to 100%, mine got stuck at 79% for 10 minutes. It's fine if that happens, go ahead and cancel.

5. It should be done, your remote will work perfect along with the TV channel buttons.

VIZIO BLACK SCREEN

That problem is the Ysus board, Sometimes people will replace the Zboard at the same time. If you bought it at costco a couple of years ago you are in luck costco will refund your purchase price, costco has changed the return policy and newer tv's are not refunded, but something to look into
