I have purchased a brand new Canon MP210 for my brand new Asus Laptop. Installed it perfectly, it scans perfectly, it photocopies perfectly but wont print at all. It shows up in the printer dialogue box as printing, but the entire message never gets through, and it eventually says there's an error but doesn't not say what the error is.

Use a piece of thin card or stiffer paper that is A4 size & try to print something.
When the paper starts to move, push it through to clear out any debris. If that doesn't fix it, get in touch with the store you bought it from, or Canon. They should be able to help - especially since it's brand new.
In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit
(Printer Cover).
If printing is in progress and you want to continue
printing, press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds
with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out
condition.
The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be
disabled.
Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the
printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is
continued under the ink out condition.
E5 - The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink
cartridge is installed , or the ink cartridges are not installed
properly..
In certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and
Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this
state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your
printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you
are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma
printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print
cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take
care of your problem.
You need to have the proper software installed to be able to scan. If you have installed it, then open the program and run the scan function. If you haven't installed the software, do a Google search for your printer model. Go to the Canon website and search for the drivers and software for your model. The software on your lost CD can be downloaded form Canon. Install the software and follow the instructions.
On Canon's support page for this printer PM210 Support there are 3 different driver files available. One is for XP and Vista 32-bit systems, one for XP 64-bit systems, and one for Vista 64-bit systems. If you know what system you have select it in the drop down menu and download and install it.
I originally posted this problem and I have since found out it is a problem with only one version of the Asus Notebook series, namely the Asus A5Z otherwise known as the Pro 50Z. Asus were extremely quick emailing me an attament showing me what I had to remove from my laptop.
You simply go into the REGISTRY EDITOR (easily found by doing a search once you're in WINDOWS) and then follow the instructions I have attached to this explanation. Hope the picture can be enlarged so it can be viewed.
The main thing you have to do is to remove/delete the entry entitled
