I have a Kenmore portable washer that is not quite a year old, after doing a wash and pulling it away from the sink to put it back in place I noticed a blob of thick grease on the floor. I have a 2 year extended warranty so called Sears to come look at it. This sounds serious, but the washer isn't even a year old. What's wrong?

You have done exactly the right thing but it sounds to me as if you are making a complaint to us at FixYa (or just passing on your experience) ?
I hope I haven't got it wrong and please do not take this the wrong way but you may be under the impression that you have somehow emailed 'Kenmore' to pass a comment whereas it is actually to a washing machine general forum. The FixYa forum is just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home and from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)
Also members on Fixya are not 'affiliated' to, or representative of, any manufacturer at all, just using their experience gained probably over many years.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

There should be a large drain plug on the bottom front right hand side. Unscrew it and check for items stuck in there, normally a sock or hair clips etc be careful there will be water in there so be ready with a mop. If it's clear, no obstructions check the drain pipe isn't kinked or squashed, it's worth pulling the machine forward putting the end of the drain pipe in the sink and watching what happens while it goes through a washing cycle.
MOST KENMORE MORE WASHERS THE LID SWITCH DOES BAD FROM CLOSING ALL THE TIME,YOU CAN REMOVE THE LIP SWITCH WIRES(2 OF THEM) WIRE THEM TOGETHER AND YOU HAVE BY PASSED THE SWITCH AND YOUR DONE,LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DO-MIKE
If you mean external hoses between tap and washing machine, and washing machine and waste drain to install the washer in place. Everywhere. even the local hardware store, those items are a standard size, thread, and diameter and fit all washers.
if you mean the click fit hose to a sink tap, with the waste water drain buldled in so the washer can remain portable
Sears has them as a to-order item and most parts stores will have a generic brand that will fit straight on, the screw fittings are standard.
tear may be from pulling something across it with sharp edges..to replace seall not major job front part of seal held in place with spring ..remove and pull boot away from front edge inlet tub slides out of boot opening rear held in place with LARGE screw clamp a little patience is usually all that's needed ..did 2 today
Leaking pump or drain connexion most likely
you will have to get under to check it out.
Put a several sheet to news paper under the machine and pull it out as it stands to see where the water is coming from front/back/sides
Do a wash and repeat.
But you will need the service of an engineer I guess unless you are good with a wrench.
