Panasonic HDC-SD80 Camcorder Logo
Posted on Aug 22, 2011

I just got my Panasonic HDC-SD80 in the post. I am charging it but tried to turn it on just for a quick look. The camera turned on and I could scroll through the menus on the touch screen and stuff but there was no picture on the screen. The camera lens cap is open and the light/torch thing won't turn off. I'll check again when its charged but am a bit worried.

Sometimes this happens if there is a fault with the memory card. switch the camera off, take the battery and memory card out, leave it for 2 mins, put the battery in (DO NOT PUT THE MEMORY CARD BACK IN) wait for the message on screen saying no memory card detected. switch off camera, put memory card in, switch on the camera, this normally cures the blank lcd screen issue

The solution posted didn't work for me, I have the same problem. Did you find another one or did this one work for you?

Are the Batt's full? because this looks like you have not enough power to keep the camera on.

If it is brand-new, or near-new, and it is defective, then exercise the warranty to get it repaired or replaced.

Card unlock SD80

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
