Question about Kodak Cameras
These are visual clues as to when the camera is capable of providing a good image based upon your current settings. When a red hand appears and the image capture environment is dark you may need to popup the flash or place the camera in flash ready mode.
When the camera displays a green hand your mode setting is correct for the environment you are using. As pointed out above, the opposite is true for a red hand display.
Hope that clears it up. If I'm not clear or on point just point that out and I'll clarify.

You may see the information on teh Kodak site for this. They are simply notification icons
"Understanding the blur warning icons --
If the feature is turned on ( InfoImage), a blur alert icon (hand) is displayed during picture review and quickview.
Green - Picture is sharp enough for an acceptable 4 x 6-inch (10 x 15 cm) print.
Yellow - Picture may be sharp enough for an acceptable 4 x 6-inch (10 x 15 cm) print or sharpness is not determined. (You may want to view on a computer monitor before printing.)
Red - Picture is not sharp enough for an acceptable 4 x 6-inch (10 x 15 cm) print.
White - Print sharpness is not determined."

SOURCE: AF flashing green, red AF sign on screen - won't take pictures
When you depress the picture button you should both hear the camera making motor noises and see the image focus changing as it seeks the proper focus for the image. If no focus movement takes place and you hear nothing then the focus motor is either completely jammed or malfunctioning. Alternatively focus movement may take place but it never finds the right focus point. Or you may hear a buzzing or clicking sound when it should be focusing. These symptoms can be caused by impact or, more commonly, sand or other contaminants making their way into the delicate system which moves the focus element. The camera will require professional repair in either of these cases. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

SOURCE: i keep getting the red hand never the green hand
Hi mariah, all the red hand means is that the camera was moved slightly when the picture was taken. If the picture looks fine I wouldn't work about it, or you could do like I did: I went to walmart and found a $25 tripod that works really well.
hope this helps!

SOURCE: Red hand icon when on my pix on ny camera
It means basically that there was not enough light to properly process the picture OR the shutter snapped before it was fully focused.
