I have a Maytag refrigerator which is approximately eight years old. A month ago ice started forming on the inside of the freezer. Looking at the freezer on the left hand side above the ice maker I have tiny little statactites forming on the roof of the freezer. The right hand sice is clean. Also, ice is forming on the left front inside and on the freezer door approximately two inches below the seal. All of this ice is on the left hand side. I have inspected the door seal and they appear to be in good condition. I would also add that the fan does run and the ice maker works fine too. One last thing, the fan housing inside the freezer is covered with a heavy layer of ice but has not formed on the top or side vent panels.

GE Profile Side by Side PCF25PGTAWW Ice maker started to leak inside several weeks ago. Ice column formed inside back of freezer and on shelves. Removed ice and turned off ice maker. Refer and freezer...

when you removed the back panel if you look on the right side you'll see a round coil next to the fan you have to clean that out at least once a year,if you get a shop vac you can vac off the coil and then set it to blow and blow the coil out to clean it,if your food is staying clod you don't have a problem, when the machine goes into defrost there's a heater in the freezer that melts the ice off of the coil, when it comes on the temp will get warmer for like a half hour or so until it comes out of defrost and starts to cool again.hope this helps

Refrigerator stopped cooling 2 days ago. Freezer works fine. What is broken? Appliance is four years old. Replaced compressor almost exactly 1 year ago.

Check the fan in the freezer and be sure it's working, isn't blocked by product or isn't clogged with ice. If this fan isn't working the refrigerator section won't cool properly.

Freezer is not defrosting

1. Remove all of the food from inside the freezer and place it into the ice chest. Use more than one ice chest, if necessary. Cover the food with ice from a 10 lb. bag of ice. Alternatively, place all of the food from your freezer into the refrigerator compartment, packed tightly together.
2. Place one or two 10 lb. bags of ice into one or two large bowls inside the refrigerator compartment to keep the food chilled. Keep the door to the refrigerator tightly closed and avoid opening it during the freezer defrosting process.
3. Unplug the unit and leave the freezer door open.
4. Let the freezer defrost overnight or for at least eight hours.
5. Use the towels to wipe up the melted ice.
6. Plug in a hair dryer and direct it to the interior of the freezer to melt any remaining ice from the walls and door. Be sure to direct it into the vents of the freezer, too.
7. Wipe up any water from ice melted with the hair dryer from inside and around the freezer.
8. Plug the freezer back into the outlet, and return food still solidly frozen to the freezer compartment from the ice chest or refrigerator. Use any thawed foods within a day or two or discard.

GE GSS25WGMCC, Ice Forming On Freezer Interior Surfaces

i had the same problem and i replaced the defrost heater and it worked fine for about one month but now having the same issue. Most of the time from what I have heard it is the defrost heater (about $60 part). I might have another issue going on with mine like a defrost thermostat. Your defrost heater is right under the panel on the inside of the freezer section. remove white panel on back side of freezer section and remove two screws and two wires and replace it and you should be fine.

Freezer problem (icing behind cover inside of freezer)

Several things to check. Refrigerator needs to be put in manual defrost mode, then check defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

Several problems with ice maker

i suspect he real problem is that the freezer is not defrosting. its difficult but take off thge back panel in the freezer and see if there is ice build-up on the pipework behind.if so melt it off with a hair-dryer and check also that the drain is clear. the water you have had on the floor could be due to intermittant defrosting
