Question about Whirlpool 25.2 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator ED25PQXF

25.2 cu. ft. side by side with ice through door: When I try to get ice through the door it will only despense when I push really hard and push up on the indoor depensing lever. I already took the ice out and cleaned the ice machine auger. Maybe the switch is dirty and needs to be cleaned. I just don't know how to get to it.

Ok unplug your box. go to the dispenser remove the tray. Now pull down on the bottom cover. this will unlock the cover. Right behind the cover is a plastic swtich holder. You have a broken pin that holds the swtich. replace this and you will back in order. hope this helps.

Not despensing ice

Make sure the ice bin is pushed all the way in position. Also make sure you don't have a big clump of frozen ice blocking the auger and keeping it from working.

It is a good idea once in a while to take the ice bin out and completely wash and clean it out real good.

How do you get the water filter out of refrigerator so you can replace it

Without knowing your particular model number, I checked and most 25 cu.ft. side by sides have the water filter in the grille. You just push a release button and it pops out. There is a cap on the filter, do not through it away as you will need it on a new filter. Also ensure the O-ring protective covers are removed on the new filter prior to installing. You can run the water dispenser without a filter as well. Here is a link to the PDF for one type of 25 cu. ft. Whirlpool side by side.

Make sure that the bucket is pushed in all the way. If the motor is running the screw should be turning. I would also take the bucket out and try to turn the auger by hand to make sure it is turning free.

Oddly enough, the problem is with your ice dispenser. What happens is that the door at the bottom of the ice chute is probably not sealed. This is likely because there is a solenoid that is supposed to hold that door open when you push your cup against the dispenser arm, and THEN, close it again when you release. If the chute door is not sealed, warmer, moist air from outside the refridgerator will be canstantly drawn up the chute where the moisture will freeze as frost. Gradually, this frost builds up in the chute until there is no longer enough room foir the ice to fall. You can usually look up at the chute from outside and see that the door is not sealed. In my case, I left it unsealed because the door would not open to let the ice out. It took me about 3 months to figure out that this was causing my frost-clogging problem. The solution is to replace the solenoid that is supposed to open and close the chuite door. If you remove the despenser panel, you will see that this solenoid is probably all rusted up and not working. The water dispensing valve may not be functioning, if the valve buzzes or hums when the water dispenser is pressed the valve may be mechanically deficient, if there is no sound whatsoever the switch for the dispenser,the dispensing valve coil or its electrical connections may have failed.

If you can see the water running through the line when pressing the button in the door it must be going out somewhere inside or under the unit. If this is correct your plastic water line needs repaired.
