Hello. I have a Philips FW-R88 CD player that I think I bought about ten years ago. A while back, it started turning itself off and then back on randomly (usually after playing somewhere between thirty seconds and five minutes). It does this when both playing CDs and the radio. I'd appreciate any input on this. Thanks!

Clearly some kind of power supply issue as it is on both devices. It might be faulty capacitors or something wrong with the voltage control circuit.

In power supply check capacitors ,one of them is leake or dry.Best way of detecting this cap is to have freez it (coolant) to sprey on the sections in power supply and thanindividual capacitors this will definately solve your problem.

My recently made music CD will NOT play in our Philips FW-R7. It will play on all our computers and DVD players. The message is "Wrong Disc." Other music CD we've made do play fine in the FW-R7.

Philips

if you bought it under one year ago then the retailer should be obliged to either replace it or repair it. I would look into this further, ask to speak to the manager or something casue when a tv switches itself off it indicates an error inside and turns itself off to prevent further damage.

Philips flat screen TV MODEL ID 19PFL5422D/27

I bought the television less than a year ago, so I called Philips Magnavox and they asked for the serial and model numbers. Next thing I know they asked for my name and address and Philips is sending a brand new television to replace it !!! The new one should arrive in about ten days. How's that for service? I'm very happy that I bought Philips and I will do so again. So don't forget to keep all the paper work that comes with your new televisions, especially Model and Serial numbers ! Thanks for asking , Debbie Hoffman

Jack is broken on portable CD player

Mystical Chicken, all that needs to be done is to open up your player and re-flow the solder connection where the ac adapter goes. It is a fairly simple task, given you have used a soldering iron before. If not, just send it to me and I'll fix it.

Power supply

Possibilities: Transformer, reducing the input voltage to the components, or the power switch itself. Both can be checked with an Ohm meter, but first UNPLUG this unit, BEFORE attempting any repairs or testing. I know, it sounds like a lecture, but there are many who think it's unplugged and tear into it, and @*%!)${^%, they get a nasty shock! So, be safe first. Make sure the power cord plug is in your sight, both lugs are looking at you, and then proceed.

Cant get it to start

To reset the system to "install" mode press & hold the "play/pause" button in the center of the unit until "AUTO INSTALL- PRESS PLAY" is displayed. If this doesn't work then the unit may be too hot! I see on the philips web site that this model has a temperature sensor & will shut itself off. I am in Spain too & the temperature inside right now is 30C!!
