Descaling Hi We just descaled our system. It all went smoothly until the last minute of the process. An error sign showed up. We turned of the system and when we put it back on the display shows "Descaling" with 1 minute left. It is making noise as it was trying to run more water from the water dispenser unit (it was empty). When I refilled the container it ran the water again but the machine seems stuck on that last minute (it shows 0:01 left). If I turn the machine off and turn it back on, the display goes back to "descaling". Help. Thanks a lot.

Hi Auto descale: To automatically descale your machine, press the scoop or menu button and hold it down until you enter the menu. Use the arrows on the to scroll up until you come to "Descale". Press enter and the machine will enter the mode to descale your machine. The process takes about 45 minutes. You don't have to do a thing except mix a full water tank with descaling solution and have a container under the steam wand when your start. If you have a cappuccinonatori on your machine you will need two containers. To start the descaling process simply turn the steam knob. When the process is over your machine will say "Descale finished". Remove your water tank and rinse it out. Refill it with fresh water. Replace on the machine and close the open the steam knob again. Let it quit on its own. Refill tank again and prime the machine and your ready. Exit "Descale mode and scroll down to "Reset descale", press the enter button and chose "Yes", then exit and your ready for the next time.

If you want to make your machine last a long time, go to the water hardness in the menu and change your water hardness to the #4 and always push the enter button if you want to make your changes permanent. If you don't, no changes will be made and it will still be the same when you exit.

It should take about 45 minutes to an hour to properly descale the machine. If it only took a couple of minutes you really didn't descale your machine. If you used the powder it has to disolve completly before descaling. The best way to descale is with the descaler in the tank. Turn on the machine and run about 8 ozs of water-descaler through the wand and then turn off the machine. Wait 10 minutes and repeatthe last procedure. Do this until the tank is empty. When done with the descaler, rinse out the tank and put fresh water in the tank and run the whole tank through the wand. Then fill the tank and your ready to go.

Manual descale: To decalcify your boiler, remove your water tank and fill it with hot water (100 to 120 degrees). Open a pack of decalcifier and mix into the water tank. Place the tank back on the machine, then turn the machine on.
