QuickCam and Vista

I own a quickcam Pro 3000 which used to work fine under Windows XP Pro. I stopped using it for a while and in time I bought a new notebook that came with Windows Vista Home Pro Edition. Tried to get my QuickCam working with the new computer but the device is not recognized. Don't remember if I ever had sofware installation CD for the QuickCam.

CAn anyone help?

Go here. I bought this camera. It works really well. Upgraded to vista, and now my son has
as well. we got it working using this technique just fine on skype.

There is NO REASON that you shouldn't be able to YORU hardware on the vista os other than
Logitech's greed in making you buy a new camera.

No cd to downlode sofware its a logitech y-uf6 2c/28awg and 2c/24awg shielded hank

It appears that the Y-UF6 is a variant of the Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 series (the default model # is V-UAP41) and doing a bit of research it looks like the drivers available here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/480/3359?WT.z_sp=Image can be used on all variants of the Quickcam Pro 3000. They have a download for all OS's except for Windows 7, but there are some people in the Logitech forums who had success installing the vista drivers on Windows 7 and the Camera worked with them.
Hope this helps!

I have QuickCam 8.3.0 and just bought a new computer with Windows Vista 64 bit ... where can I get a driver for this ? I found drivers that support other windows apps such as XP .. but not for Vista

mgbbgm19,

According to Logitech's support site, the QuickCam Messenger series web-cams aren't supported in Windows Vista. :(

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/480/3378&cl=gb,en?osid=13

Also, being that it is considered a "legacy device" now, they probably will not invest the time into writing drivers for Windows Vista.

Here is a link to their newer web-cams, almost all of them are vista compatible. You can verify their operating system compatibility under the "Specifications" tab of each products page.

Mac OS 10.4 or Above

To use a Logitech camera on your Mac OS X computer, please purchase a Logitech camera that is UVC compliant, this camera will have basic functionality for use with a third party application but no additional features will be available such as (Rightlight, Rightsound or Video Effects)

All UVC Complaint Webcams listed in table below

This article applies to the following platforms:
Macintosh OS X 10.4.9 - 10.5.2

The Logitech webcams listed below are UVC (Universal Video Class) compliant and can be used with operating systems which fully support this standard; including Mac OS 10.4.9 and above.

Please note that standard UVC drivers are provided by the Operating System and will provide minimal camera support only. Unique Logitech features, such as RightLight and Video Effects are not functional via UVC drivers.

Furthermore, we recommend the use of a full Logitech installation package, where available, for supported operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Haveing trouble installing logitech quick cam onto my comuptor thats running windows vista

This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Windows Vista and Logitech QuickCam Messenger.
Logitech QuickCam Messenger was created by Logitech, Inc..
Recommendation
—————-
To search for similar devices that are compatible with this version of Windows, visit the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List website online.
However, it’s not totally out of hope for owner of Logitech QuickCam Messenger who has upgraded to Windows Vista. The following hack will use Windows XP driver (a common trick to use non Vista compliant device) to install the webcam in Vista:
  1. Download QuickCam 8.4.8 with driver for WinXP.
  2. Install WinRAR if not already installed yet.
  3. Open the setup installer qc848enu.exe and unpack its contents to a folder. Alternatively, right click on qc848enu.exe and select “Extract to qc848enu\” option.
  4. Insert or plug in the Logitech QuickCam Messenger to a USB port if not already done so.
  5. An “Driver Software Installation” icon in systray (notification area) should appear, which will pop up detailed message if click. It should fail, and “Add Hardware Wizard” dialog window will appear. Choose to install the driver manually by instructing the Wizard to locate and look for the web cam driver inside the Drivers folder under the unpacked folder of the qc848enu.exe setup program. You can use browser button to select the folder.
  6. Windows Vista should grab the XP driver and install it properly.
  7. Download the latest version (10.5.1) of Vista compliant QuickCam software from Logitech to install the software on Vista.
  8. Run the setup (qc1051enu) normally. You may need to skip the detection of webcam near the end of installation process.
Voila, you can now use the Logitech webcam to capture images or use it in conjunction with video chat in IM programs such as Windows Live (MSN) Messenger, AIM Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype or run Logitech VideoCall.

i hope thist post can solve your problem

thank's
