There is very likely a code that you can enter with your remote. The trick is finding out what that code is. I have the same problem and get the impression that is should not be so hard to find the code on line, which suggests Emerson does not want us to know it, but would prefer we buy a new tv. I will be contacting a tv repair service to see if they know what the code is.

Re: DVD drawer in TV/VCR/DVD combo won't open
The problem may be mechanical or electronic. If the drawer is stuck from being bent or jammed it is mechanical. If the system controlling IC circuit is defective, then it is electronic.
If it is still under warranty the factory should be responsible for it. If it is not under warranty, the cost of repair is likely to be more than the price of a new dvd player!

Unplug it and plug it back in. However, that may not fix it. What goes back to AV2 - the TV source? When the TV does not receive a signal it will display AV2. The problem is in the Toshiba DVD / VCR combo. You need electronic spray (contact) to spray the inside of the buttons just to start, this requires dis-assembly. Unplug the unit ad remove the cover, and possibly the faceplate to spray these buttons. Now if the problem is also caused from the remote then there could be a problem in a transistor or chip. Clean the mother board with a duster, but there might not be a fix action for the problem.
Look on the face of the DVD drawer. You will see a tiny hole in it. Straighten a paper clip and push it in the hole until it stops. Push further and the drawer will open mechanically far enough for you to grab it and open it completely.
I can't get any support from sansui. I think your DVD player is trying to read the disk. It can't and its stuck in DVD mode. This is just something I would try I don't know if it will work. Unplug the power source hold down the eject button and plug it back in. The objective is to try to get it to spit that disk out before it has a chance to try to read it.I hope this helps. If it does give me a vote and I'll know it worked.
