Philips 8GB GoGear got wet and will ot turn on.

I had went swimming and had not realized that I had my player in my pocket. About a half hour later when I got out I found the player in my pocket. I popped a side open as far as possible and placed a fan near it for days, checked for water droplets after that and found none. I attemted to turn it on and it didn't even try. I thought maybe I just ended the life of the battery. I connected it to my computer by cord and it didn't turn on nor did the computer recognize it. Help please.

Install and run the Philips Device Manager software from the product CD.

Select the Repair / Restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and repair the firmware.

In your Windows media Player go into tools and select options. Select rip music and untick copy protect music. The music you have in WMP wont work. you will have to put them in again after you made the changes. Hope this helps

Use a pen tip or other sharp object to insert the RESET hole on the side of the player.

Here is a page which shows you how to transfer music over to your new Phillips Media Player. Windows Media Player sync is specific to Windows products. Do NOT use this to transfer music to your Phillips media player. Use the software supplied by the manufacturer.

Where do I turn it on?

There is a slide rocker on the right side of the unit. If this does not work the units battery may be dead and would require a charge for at least a few hours.

I have a philips gogear 8gb freezes up several times a hour

Unfortunately the GoGear HDD series is totally incompatible with Windows Vista and Windows Media Player 11. It will work for a while, and then behave exactly as you described. Solution: You will need to uninstall your GoGear software, rollback to Windows Media Player 10, reinstall the GoGear software, update the firmware on your player, and even then the damage may already be done (IMO, it is more trouble than this player is worth). You can read about the warnings on Philips website.

Frozen

ok.
all you need to do is push and hold the ^ (up) key on the front and the Volume + key on the side for a few seconds. This will force the hddto reset and turn off. Now you can turn it back on and continue using it. Please note this doesn’t erase the data or music off the MP3 player.
