The LCD works fine, but the camera is malfunctioning somehow. The picture is rather distorted and has no color except a hint of purple. When a shot is taken, it comes out even worse as mostly purple and green lines or blurs. The menus appear fine and so do pictures taken before the problem occured when viewed on the camera's LCD. It happened once for a few seconds on start up and went back to normal. Then the next time I went to use the camera it stayed like that and has been that way for the most part. The other day I tried it out of boredom after letting it charge up. For a second the picture was fine when I turned it on but then it got distorted again and I have no idea what's going on. I have some hope it is fixable because of the 2 seconds of normalness the other day. Any ideas out there?
I have a similar problem - have a look here http://www.fixya.com/support/t150910-fujifilm_f402_just_blurred_colours & if its the same problem I've been told that the processor is broken....

First of all, if you're still under warranty no use trying solutions that might be only temporary, go complain. Since you have normality relapses, it sounds like its something a reset could fix. Follow the instructions in your manual on how to perform a full reset, in case you no longer have the manual i'll attach that part of it to my post(just from a slightly different camera, if you have a digital manual for the 402 please post it). Now, if that doesn't work, i would suggest you try resetting the good old way - take out all batteries, disconnect all cables, and make sure the camera just lies there taking it easy for a few days, then try again. No go? it might be a problem with the memory card, try replacing. If you don't have one available try going to a repair shop/retailer and ask for one of their cards just to test it as a last resort before sending it for repair. Good luck
