I have a Maytag Bravos washing machine that has just recently become really noisy when it goes into high speed spin. I have lifted the cover and found no items or debris. When I spin the tub by hand it spins freely for about 3/4 of a rotation then it feels like it is binding on something. I did get an f51 code last week, but not since then. Any suggestions

I understand the f51 code, but what about the excessive noise and the apparent rubbing or binding when I manually spin the tub?

Hi.

F51 is motor position sensor error. From manual:

F51: Motor RPS Failure
F then 51 flashes when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure or lower harness problem.

The motor position sensor failure may be the result of a problem between basket and motor.The parts below the basket must be inspected. There is need to remove the basket to check parts in there. I can give you the procedure to remove the basket if you want.

Hi.

To find out you need to test the appliance. First run a diagnostic and check if noise is coming from the motor. If the noise is not coming from the motor the agitator and the basket must be removed to check basket hub.

The testing procedure is illustrated in service manual, section 6-4, from pag.69 of pdf.

Basket removal is section 4-11, pag.51of pdf.

Spin solenoid could have water leaking onto it and it stuck on , but noise is most likely caused by bearing getting water into them,dose it leek water on the floor?

My top load Bravos washing machine wobbles during spin cycle.

Most likely suspension rods and bushings need replacing. Also check outer tub ring. Sometimes it will break from beating on sides of washer, behind where water comes out.

Replacing pulley on Blower Housing

If there is no access panel on lower right side behind machine, you will have to lift the top of the machine from the front and remove the front panel to access the inside of the machine. While there it would be a good idea to check out the drum rollers if present and drum glides for wear. Also make sure that the blower wheel is not loose on the motor shaft. All of these will cause noise issues and are common.

No, not if the noise is only when rinsing, if it makes the noise when spinning generally then possibly but if only noisy when rinsing sounds like a filter blockage on the waste pipe. clean out the filter behind the flap on the bottom of the front panel

High speed spin problem

contact maytag at 1-800-688-9900 and ask whats going on and you need your machine fixed while it is under warranty, it is only covered for a year.
they may refer you to a whirlpool number but whirlpool now ownes matag so this is ok
