Hello support, I recenttly bought an HP NetRAID-2M that hangs out while trying to initialize HDDs, it did not let me enter controller BIOS, once the cable SCSI cable is connected to HDDs, if cable is not connected, the BIOS can be configured through Ctrl+M combination. My board is an ASUS P4S800D-X, my hdds are seagate cheetah st173404lcv, they are working properly as well the motherboard, scsi cable and terminator since I already tested with an IBM ServeRAID that I already own. The problem takes place after the controller start to scan for devices, I found this in HP support pages: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=51930&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=51930&objectID=lpn12570 which describes the problem I have as well as links and recommendations about how to upgrade the BIOS & Firmware of the controller as well as some HP parts that are present in some SCSI hdds including mines, I already flashed the controller sucessfuly and I downloaded firmware update for HDDs but HP support removed the procedure about how to upgrade the HDDs firmware, if the controller hangs out how could I be able to boot using the floppy disk, the controller BIOS never give back control to motherboard BIOS which violates the following BBS principle: ... 6.2 PnP Option ROM Initialization It is a requirement for all PnP option ROMs to return control back to the BIOS after they have completed their initialization. If a PnP option ROM does not return, it takes control away from the BIOS and foregoes compatibility with the BIOS Boot Specification. ... in the above mentioned link they make reference to the following link: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=software&h_lang=EN&h_cc=US&h_product=hpfirmware19319 to find information on how to update HDDs firmware, but the link in that page does not work. Any help will be appreciated, Best Regards, Orlando Otero
Here's a link to the fireware update tool you need to do the flash: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=65146&swItem=ns-9915-1&prodNameId=19319&swEnvOID=54&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0 As for never getting the chance to boot from the floppy drive to update the drives, try using the ServeRAID controller just to flash the drives then put the NetRAID-2M controller back in.
