I have a Kenmore Gas Range Model #75571691 - i think. That number seems longer than these other posted numbers - anyway - when i turn on the oven i constantly hear this puffing sound, it i turn on the broiler it is fine. how can i fix it w/out calling a tech.

Your model number should be much longer than 790 30 Open drawers and doors to look for the whole model number around the frame.

Have you purged the gas line to get gas to the range? What is the model number?

You will need the control board for your range. I can direct you to the part if you can post the model number off the unit. Look in the oven for it.

I cannot find the model number either, however, if you look on the enclosure into which the control board fits, there will be a label with a number beginning with 316 or 318. If you provide me with that number I will try to help you. I am familiar with these as I work for a company that repairs failed timers.

Not sure how old your range is but most haven't had pilot lights for some years. The ovens use either a kind of hot-wire igniter or a spark gap for ignition. Check the Sears parts site for your model number and I think you'll find an illustrated parts breakdown that can be very helpful in diagnosing problems.

Most likely your oven igniter is faulty. When they get worn they will heat up but not get hot enough for the gas to turn on.
Part number is 7432P062-60

Replace the oven glow bar igniter. If you post an exact model number (located on sticker behind lower drawer) I can give you a part number.

Tom, generally a f1 code implies a control problem. The tech sheet gives 3 possible causes. 1. A shorted keypad, solution to replace electronic control. 2. Controls internal checksum has become corrupt, solution is to unplug for 30 seconds, if the code comes back, replace the electronic control. 3. Control has sensed a overheating condition, relay on the board may have shorted out. Each one recommends replacing the control board. The part I have for this model number is 316127903. Says it's grey. Catriver..post back.
