I have a Portable Windchaser Air Conditioner and the back filter looks very dusty. Should I replace or clean the filter? There doesn't seem to be a way to remove it without disassembling it. Thanks for your help.

These filters can usually be removed and cleaned by carefully sliding it upwards. Some units they just unclip, pop off with a sligh force. However removing the filter will only expose the evaporator, it is MUCH recommended to remove the entire back cover of the unit to gain access to the condenser and clean both of the radiators.

Empty the water out of the collection pan? This will shut the unit down to keep it from ruining your floors. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

Windchaser PACR9 troubleshooting

Hi Jeff,
There is an air leak somewhere inside.
  • Check that all windows are properly shut.
  • If the unit has an air exchanger, make sure it is closed.
  • Or there is a lot more Moisture (Humidity) in the air inside your quarters.
  • Check for massive dirt ( dust) build-up on the condenser or evaporator.
  • Lastly, do not forget to clean the filter too.
Good Luck!

My portable. Air conditioner. Isn't cooling

Could be a number of things, Is the compressor running? If so, are the filters clean? ( Both the outlet and the inlet filters.) One at the front where the air comes out and one at the back where the air goes in.

Unit will not operate and warning light is stuck on.

Try turning the unit OFF and unplugging it for 15 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on. During that 15 minute timeout, the electronics should have reset and reverted back to the original factory settings. If so, you can then reset them to where you'd like them

If the above did not solve the problem. you may be out of luck. As Windchaser went out of business sevral months ago. The phones have disconnected and their website is down. And with all of that, replacement/repair parts are like looking for a needle in a haystack. Sadly, some retailers that still have them in inventory and are still selling them without advising the customer that Windchaser is out of business.

I hope I was of some help to you. I hate having to be the bearer of bad news.

I have a faultly thermister on a Windchaser PACR10 portable air conditioner. They seem to be out of business and won't answer their phone. I need a new thermister set that is rated for this unit. No...

No doubt about it. They are out of business, the phone(s) have been disconnected and their website is down.I check several parts site I have dealt with and Windchaser is not a brand that is listed , that they have parts for. I am sure there are some interchangeable parts from other brands, but how to find it, without a part number is like looking for needle in a hay stack. Your best bet, would be to take the unit to a local small appliance repair shop that works on portable AC units. One look at the part and the would know what is a substitute for it.

Hope this helped you. If it's any conciliation, you're not the only one looking for parts for this brand. Amazingly, there are some units still on the market. Probably, the retailers know they're out of business, but can't afford to eat the units.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.
