Hello, my name is Elton. I have a problem with my comp hp pavilion dv1000. I formatted it and installed an XP-pro and some of the drivers I downloaded from the HP website don't work. Can you help me please? Thank you. Elton
Can you try to re-upload that file? I tried and it said it was no longer on the website. Can you try to re-upload that file? I tried and it said it was no longer on the website.

Elton, not sure if you ever got the full set of drivers but here they are just in case. It took me some time to get them there but they are there. Let me know if the link doesn't work and I'll repost.

It may not even be caused by the graphics display driver at all. Your Hard Drive may hae BAD SECTORS and the computer is battling to read the system area of the hard drive... Make alse sure that the hard drive commections are fine
It sound's like there could be a compatibility problem, maybe corrupt file's, or missing start up file's, have you tried doing a window's update, or doing a disc check on the hard drive, go to my computer right click the drive then go to propertie's, click on tool's then click check now for drive error's. if that do'es not work you may need to reformat back to the original xp os.
I found the problem to be a rather simple but frustrating one....when is an HP dv1000 not a dv1000....almost always!! You cannot get the correct downloads based on the model number on the tag. You must specify the PRODUCT NUMBER on the HP download site from the tag, not model. You can enter the general DV1000 and get to the download page and look for the entry "Not your Product?!" Follow that link and enter the PN from the tag....download those and you will get drivers that work with your unit. My "DV1000" was actually a DV1660!!!!
you can use any xp disk to format hd and reinstall .
do u not know anyone who could lend u their copy for a few hours.make sure u have the cd key.
you can use the same disk many times on many machines with the same disk n same cd key.
Can you try to re-upload that file? I tried and it said it was no longer on the website.
