The error 4 in most CD Player is an error that comes up when the laser pickup doesn't read the disc correctly. This happens most of the time because of a dirty lens in the laser pickup. If anyone smokes in the vehicle the smoke may be on the lens causing the error code. Try a wet type CD cleaning disc to see if it helps.

"Error 4" is a mechanical disc loading problem. The disc probably hasn't been seating in the #6 carrier properly, leading to some mechanical interference when it is selected. It would seem to be properly seated now, but next time you have it out you might check it on a perfectly smooth flat surface to be sure it is not warped slightly. Try another disc in that position, one you know to be trouble-free.

I burn a lot of discs for my clients and have never had a problem with the mid or high-grade discs from Taiyo Yuden, and others. Even lesser discs like Ritek perform fairly well. Some brands - usually the no-names - fail right out of the box. One of the problems seems to be that the cheapest discs are pretty thin and subject to mechanical problems like warping.

If you use "economy" discs particularly, be sure to put a label on them. Most of the cheap discs don't have much of a protective coat on top and scratching the top metal foil finish can lead to serious playback troubles as the disc is read by the laser from the bottom.. In addition to telling you what's ON the disc, the label helps protect that critical foil.

Hope helps.

I've got VW Passat b6 2006. Rosen-VW0710-H11 is installed in it. When I try to play DVD (no matter audio or video) system displays message: "Password Fail". What can be the reason of this...

I would recommend resetting the Rosen unit. This is done by entering the "Menu" and pressing "Settings". From this screen, you select "Keypad" in the top right corner of the screen and then enter "7-5-2-3" and press "Enter". This should erase any code for Parental Control (levels 0 - 8). Also, the Rosen product states to only use "Store bought media" for CD's and DVD's meaning that it won't play all 'burned' discs. Hope this helps.- Elliot

Cd player will not play cd's. Error code: TOC ERR

A few things it could be:

No disc has been loaded in the disc magazine.

CDs being used are burned, test using different media or an actual CD.

Very dirty or scratched CDs.

The CDs are upsidedown.

Hi There we just bought a C200 Kompressor and it doesnt play CDs - it gives a CDS Error , can you advice ?

Hi, My guess is that you have the wrong type of CD. Try another CD.
Some CD players will not play MP3's or others like that.
Thats why you are getting error code.

My unit is a DVP3140, purchased 2006 or 2007. As soon as I got it, I changed the code to region 0 so that I could play the DVDs I bought when I lived in Italy. It worked great for about 3.5 years of...

By changing to Region 0 you've changed the Laser control and subsequently the Laser is failing earlier than it would have done under normal operation.

The only solution would be to replace the Laser which is not normally cost effective and often unavailable anyway.

CDs may still play for a period of time as these require less power as there isn't as much information to read as a DVD.

Error 2 on Display

Mabye. I would suggest either opening the unit up and cleaning thr "laser" (optical pickup) with a q-tip. Or try using one of those cleaning cds that have the little cleaner fabric on the inderside... if that doesent work something is most like wrong with the cd machanism wether its not spinning the cd or just not reading it due to a defective laser.. ampman!
