Question about Samson C01U - USB Studio Condenser Microphone Consumer Microphone

Hello, I just purchased the C01U USB mic and whenever I test or record with it I get this really high pitched noise. but when I tap the Mic is goes away and then slowly fads back in after a couple of seconds and does not go away unles I tap the Mic again. I have already adjusted everything I could in the sound/recording section in the control panel but nothing works. Could this be a defect?

1. Try the microphone on another USB port and check.
2. If not OK, try the microphone on another computer and check.
3. If OK on another computer, re-install it or recover the O.S. from a backup.
4. If on another computer the same problem exists, the microphone could have a internal control defect.

Why is it suddenly way too quiet?
Try a different mic to see if problem follows. If yes then it is a setting. If not then the mic is bad and needs to be sent to mfg or get a new one.

There is a horrible echo whenever i try to record and then there's a loud noice that sounds like a very high-pitched whistle and i don't know what to do.
This type of audio feedback loop can happen on any mic if you are playing back audio at a loud volume on speakers that are close to the mic while the mic is on - which tends to happen on Skype calls. Try lowering your speaker volume or using headphones to hear the audio, then speak into mic, and the feedback should be reduced.

I just purchased the samson c01u USB mic yesterday and i get this really unpleasant fuzzy noise. ive checked it with 2 different DAWs and it happened in both. is mine a faulty mic? or am i doing something...
Sounds like mic is defective, I'd ask for a replacement.

Have you test a different mic, or have you adjusted the pitch control for the mic.

Whistling background noise with Samson C01U USB condenser mic
Welcome to the world of STUDIO microphones. Super quality BUT you must have a studio to use them. You can't have any local speaker playing into them. You often use headphones lest your monitor speakers will feedback. At the high frequency capability of these mics, you can fry your amps with oscillations above what you can hear!

Cannot setup C01U Microphone with Adobe Audition2.0.
Try to disable your laptops build in mic through the recording options on your computer. It worked for me

Samson C01U USB mic not working on my PC.
try this;

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic

C01u PROBLEM PLS HELP ?!
That's the way it's supposed to work. It's a mono microphone, so there's only one signal to record.

Set up your recording software so that it only records the Left channel. It describes how to do this on the Samson FAQ page and in the Owner's Manual:

"In your digital audio workstation (DAW), create a mono audio track, and set it to the Left channel of the C01U (the Right channel should be ignored). Arm the track for recording, and adjust the input gain by using the software control in your computer's operating system"

Don't try to alter the pan so both sides are the same; that will just screw up the levels and noise.

Playback only on left speaker
The quick, easy solution is to change your microphone to mono recording. In the attached YouTube clip, I'll show you how to do that.

The short and simple is to go to your Mac HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup. Select your C01U USB device, and set it to 1ch 16bit. This will set the microphone to record in mono, equally over both speakers.
