Question about Bushnell Voyager 78-9945 Telescope

We just got our Bushnell Voyager 78-9945 Reflector Telescope. It comes with the poorest manual I have ever seen. How do you assemble the eye piece?, what is the little shiny metal triangle piece for? Does any one know of a site or a video that explains the pieces and shows how to assemble this telescope? I know some of you assembled this with the same manual, but I am feeling frustrated. I think I already answered this question. Eyepieces are NOT assembled they are one piece like this picture:

They simply slip into the hole of the focuser -- straight in. The larger the number written on the eyepiece the LOWER the magnification.

In the picture above there is a metal triangle holding the tripod legs apart-- it is called a "tripod spreader" or a tripod "tray"-- used for holding eyepieces and other small pieces of equipment while you are using the scope.

No it's not --- junk it and buy another telescope. This time avoid Bushnell- Tasco, and Edu Science scopes.

Check out the Orion web site here, for a Dobsonian reflector telescope. The most aperture for the least amount of money.

Which end piece do I remove,the one closest to the view finder ?

The end with the focuser is the UP end of the telescope. This is a reflector style telescope with a mirror in the BOTTOM. Take off the lens cap on the UP end near the focuser.

Many on line retailers sell eyepieces. They come in three sizes, .965, 1.25, and 2 inch.

Measure the hole in the focuser. The .965 inch size is harder to find.

Eyepieces are either .965 inch or 1.25 inch in size. Measure the hole. You can buy eyepieces from many on line astronomy shops. Here are two:

Can not see anything thru the lens

Put the lowest power eyepiece into the telescope-- that's the one with the LARGEST number on it--

Take the scope outside and point it at a distant object over 100 yards away. Then practice focusing the telescope-- turn the knob slowly.

Not worth repairing-- a new focuser for your telescope would cost as much or more than the telescope-- unless you can find a discarded telescope of the same model..... for parts.
