U3 and u7

When I go to take a picture nothing happens. After pressing the button u7 appears and the zoom lens automatically goes back in. Do you have any idea what I should do? Thank you.

News - these are technician codes indicating that there is a malfunction in the zoom mechanism of your camera, most likely electronic in nature - a defective IC chip and/or bad circuit board. Repair cost would easily exceed the value of the camera. You should be aware that, just as with today's small digital cameras, both mechanics and electronics of smaller point-and-shoot 35mm cameras consist for the most part of light-duty plastic and fragile electronics. If they last a couple of years they're doing well. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a quality 35mm SLR camera? Prices are very reasonable these days for good used SLR bodies, even serious amateur and pro models. Most all of them will FAR outlast a consumer digital or film

I wish i could help you, but Pentax's manual is poor and many people (over the net) face Pentax error message with no meaning... Try replacing the batteries if you haven't already, if it doesn't help I would take it to a local camera repair shop. If they can't help you call ProCamera in harlottesvile VA. He collects pentax owns his own shop. He's been in business for 12 yr's and he is also a succesful photoghrapher. I've heard nothing but the best about this guy Bill Moretz. I have a pentax if anything happens to it i know where i'm shipping it of too and pentax is the only camera i will own. His prices are right so the shipping costs are worth it. Good luck

My Nikon Coolpix s9100 (bought about a fortnight ago) freezes when I turn it on. The lens comes out and it makes a clicking sound but nothing appears in the viewer and it appears to be locked up. The...

I have the same problem and found someone on Amazon with this suggestion... "What I discovered is that the mechanical lens zoom assembly is binding and the lens zoom was not stopping where the software expected it to. A slight twist of the lens assembly would unfreeze the camera."

I twisted my lens assembly when this happened, and it worked. I was able to continue to zoom and take a picture. It's still not ideal and I want it fixed, but it works temporarily.

Picture Zoomed in too much, no zoom button

I had the same problem after plugging my pc into the pc-in socket. The problem happened with the scart connections after.
I solved it by turning the tv off/on from the wall plug socket.

Auto zooming on power up, intermittent problem

Possibly a intermittent connection in the control buttons or the ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connector from the controls to the main PCB.
Take it in for servicing, they will do a trial by substitution (swap out control) and lubricate the connector.
There isn't really anything you can do to fix with this sort of problem.

Cheers.

Olympus Stylus 730 shuts off after few seconds. Battery is fully charged, tried a resetting: no change.

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover opens and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode.
Operate the zoom lever or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

Camera goes to sleep too quickly...is there a way to adjust?

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation after 3 minutes when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover is open and the monitor is on). Cannon zoom sd870

hi have you tried removing the battery for couple of hours so it can reset any settings that need to be set back to default it only resets camera memory not settings you have changed but this can sometimes solve the problem your having.

Also when you switch camera on and then press zoom when the camera switches off does the lense go back inside the camera as normal or does it reamin out.

when you switch in on do all the other buttons work like can you take picture and can you access all the menu if you can then take it off auto if its on auto then see if this let you use zoom if not then the chances are their is a fault on the zoom button either jammed could be that the lense motor has come out of line with zoom button, is the display clear when you go to take picture without adjusting the zoom is it still possible to take pictures

Not focusing

Do you hear any unusual friction noise while the lens assembly projects out.. if so then the traction assembly of your zoom barrel has developed mechanical obstruction, in which case it has to be serviced. Take it to the service centre and the problem will be solved. If the zoom assembly does not fully extent to its homing position, the camera retracts and lens and powers itself off. Enjoy

Power zoom function

If you have the difuser on the zoom does not work as it assumes you are at close range. Remove the defuser and try again, good luck , Bob.
