Re:
Only thing I can think of is whether or not your memory card is full?
Do you have another card to try?
Try resetting the camera, and that doesn?t help, make sure you have copied any important images to the PC before deleting them, and try turning on again.
As to the LCD, you sometimes have to press the selection button on some cameras for more than a second, however if you have tried all of the above I recommend you either return it to where it was purchased (if possible), or contact Fuji's support line.

Re:
Sometimes on FinePix Cameras, in order to turn on the display, you need to press " |<>|" both buttons at once for the display come one.
another thing to try is to press longer on the selection button, that can do the trick, otherwise i would say it's broken, needs to get fixed.
There may be one of a number of faults, from the shutter being stuck,
to some of the circuitry having died.
Either ask fuji how much a repair would be, or ebay it as not-working,
for others to pick apart.
Good luck

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as iPhoto.
Make sure that the batteries in the camera are good and turn it on. Is there a light that comes on to let you know that the camera has power and is ready when you press the power button? Does that light come on and what color is it?
If the light ends up green, then you know the batteries are good and the camera is functioning properly and is ready to take a picture. If this is the case, then after you turn it on - look on the back of the camera for the focus zoom in and out buttons. Sometimes they look like a switch that you can rock right or left. Press the switch and look through the lens. Does press the switch or arrows in either direction clear up your view and allow you to see anything? Are you looking through the lens hole or are you using a small screen to view on the back of the camera? If you are looking at a screen on the back of the camera and that screen is black - it means that you dont have the exterior view option turned on in the cameras settings. Sometimes there is a button labeled "view" on the back of the camera to alternate from the exterior view screen on the back of the camera and using the lens hole view at the top. Press that key to make the view screen turn on. If this option is not turned on yet, press the menu key on the camera and use the arrow keys to scroll through the option choices until you find the image preview choices and turn this option on. Then save this choice and close the menu features to see if it comes on.
If you are not getting a power indicator light when you turn the camera on, then replace the batteries. If the light comes on and its something other then green and steady - (like red and flashing) check your camera manual to see what this indicator means. Some cameras show a red light that is flashing when you turn them on to indicate that the memory card is full. Some camera have a red light that is steady to indicate that the battiers are almost out of power and they will show a picture on the digital to indicate how much power you have left before they shut down. Each model camera is different according to the options it came with.

The camera is in Red-eye Reduction mode. The preflashes are intended to get the subject's pupils to contract, reducing the red-eye look.
Press MENU to display the menu. Press right-arrow to select the toolbox icon (Setup). Press the arrow keys to select Red Eye Reduction, and turn it off.
you have to look in the manu and turn it on auto-flash or something like that ..it actually has more than one options usually ..but ..it is in the main menu ..to do that turn the camera on ..and on the shooting mode..not on view picture mode..and it will be on the screen when you look in the menu ..select the option and press ok ..to activate ..
If that is the case, you need to turn off your flash when taking outdoor pictures because it seems that the pictures are overexposed.
Try to avoid the sun when taking pictures outside.
But you could try the steps below:
POWER RESET: - Turn off camera - Remove batteries for a minute - Return batteries - Turn on camera
MASTER RESET - Turn on camera - Press MENU button - Scroll to the right until you see SETUP - Scroll down and look for RESET - Press right button so you could see YES or NO - Select YES - Press MENU button - Turn off camera for a few seconds so that settings will be refreshed
* If it still does not work, call the Manufacturer so they could tell you how to send camera for repair.
When taking pictures, you must really be allowing time for the camera's flash to be charged before you could take another picture so that camera will have enough time to rest and it could function normally.
But if the camera was dropped, then it's really causing those kinds of issues like flash will not work properly.
You could still try these steps below:
First, do the POWER RESET: - Turn off camera - Remove batteries for a minute - Reload batteries - Turn on camera
Second, do the MASTER RESET
- Be in AUTO mode - Press on MENU button - Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2 - Scroll down until you see RESET - Press the right button to pick up on YES or NO - Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved
- Turn off camera for a few seconds so that settings will be refreshed
Turn it on and take a picture.
When you want to have just the AUTO FLASH.
- Rotate the mode dial to PROGRAM
- Press the LEFT/FLASH button until you've seen the
LIGHTNING icon with the Letter A on the leftmost part of the screen
- Try to take a picture by pressing and holding the shutter button
halfway first for 3-5 seconds and then press it all the way down
If it still does not work, you need to contact the Manufacturer.
Try resetting your camera and see if that helps. Sometimes it does.
In REC mode press menu
go to setup tab
go up to reset
press right arrow & highlight reset
press set.
If that doesn't work you are probably going to have to send it in.
Red-eye is actually caused by the light from the flash bouncing off the back of the retina and picking up the color red from the blood vessels.
To correct this effect, follow these steps:
Turn the mode dial to PlayBack Mode (green arrow) and display the image with redeye.
Press OK\Menu button.
Using the arrow pad, navigate to MODE MENU>EDIT>REDEYE FIX.
Press the right arrow key, START will display.
Press OK\Menu
After {BUSY} bar displays, a screen will display with an option to cancel or save the image.
? If the option [Go] is displayed, press the OK\Menu button. This saves a corrected version of the image.
? If the option CANCEL is displayed, than the camera was unable to correct the image. Press the left arrow key to exit.
This correction may not work on all pictures. If you import the original image into Olympus Master software you can also apply the Red-Eye fix located in the Edit menu. This lets you precisely pinpoint the eye area and remove the red. It even lets you remove green or blue, which can occur with animals.
