I have the parts list for a Craftsman 9-inch gas-powered edger--53687080, but the exploded diagram on Sear's Web site is so bad you can't read the diagram reference numbers. The owner's manual is listed as 60896, but no longer available. I really just want a clear copy of the diagram.

That's quiet an old saw, you can find the parts diagrams on the web which will show the fuel line
and you can find parts at this web page

You need to have the carburetor cleaned out carefully. Do not lose any parts and put them all back the same way.

Go to the Sears URL page listed and click on the sears number you find on your string trimmer and see the exploded parts of that model.

That is a sufficient amount of oil. Even the more modern horizontal crank engines have no dipstick and are checked that way. Anywhere in the threaded area and up is considered sufficient. It is great fun trying to find a manual from just 11 short years ago! The sites have manuals for almost all their current equipment, no luck finding yours yet. I am including a parts breakdown with diagrams, pricing and availability for your convenience from Sears. The manual is no longer available (part #73)

Your situation is puzzling and in fact on the Sears site with your tillers' parts list, they state the manual is no longer available with no replacement either. See item no. 92 on parts list.

Look closely at this diagram and maybe the switch is incorporated into the handle part etc.
