Up untill a few years ago they used to make a lot of universals with a "learning" function, that you aim the thing at a certain device untill it figures out the right code for it. I read that the technology was bought since so you dont see those quite as often in the market. ok, if yours is a learning uni, here's a tutorial on how to fix it, in general terms since it varies between remotes: If you cannot get the instructions - most "universal" remotes have a "code search" feature. Usually this involves hitting the "program", "select" or "function" button, then pressing the device button ("TV", "VCR", "AUX") then repeatedly pressing the "power" or "channel up" button until the set responds. The remote will cycle through each of the codes (01, 02, 03, 04) sending the "power" command for each. When you hit the right code - the set responds. When the set responds, stop and then press the "program" or "function" button to enter it (which button varies between mfgrs). If you count the number of presses - that should be the code (12 presses is "12" or "012" - or it could be 11 if the codes start at 00). If you do not have a "program" button (it might be hidden), then you may have to instead hold the function (TV, VCR, Cable) button down for a few seconds (until the light blinks). The usual manual sequence is: 0 1 2 It might also be: 0 1 2 If no program button: 0 1 2 Some remotes use a two digit code, some use three. It'll take quite a bit of trial and error without the manual. you can try getting the codes from the manufacturer, go to their site and see if you can figure anything out there... good luck

I have a chunghop rm-180e universal remote for a two year old samsung t.v. how do i program the remote

Hello
If you have codes for your tV try this proceedings.
Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

If you do not know the code, Try this Code Search Method.

    1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
    2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
    3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
    4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
    5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

How do i program my remote

Hello;

Without knowing the codes for the specific brand names and models of your devices, this is how you program the Zenith MBR3447 for your TV, VCR, DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver:

TV

1. Push the "Power" button on the TV to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "TV" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the TV's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the TV fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the TV does shut off. Each time the "Power" button is pressed the Zenith MBR3447 tries using a different TV device code from its code library to turn the TV off. Therefore, when the TV finally does shut off it's an indication that the remote is temporarily programmed with the correct device code to control the brand of TV you're using.
6. Press "Enter" to save the current code.

VCR

1. Push the "Power" button on the VCR to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "VCR" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the VCR's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the VCR fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the VCR does shut off. Then press "Enter."

DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver

1. Push the "Power" button on the device your programming the remote to control to manually turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "AUX" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the device's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the device fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the device does shut off. Then press "Enter."
