Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

To fix any you vacuum problem, a proper maintenance will do the trick. Most of the time cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways, and cleaning the brush roll assembly will resolve this. And if after doing maintenance it is still the same, that replacing the parts will most of the time make your vacuum work like brand new.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

SOURCE: No suction in upright position

Check the adapters at the bottom. They're supposed to move cleanly when you lower the handle. It's pretty obvious if there's an air gap when you lower the handle, and you should hear the suction in the air gap.

And...call Dyson...their support is great!

My vacuum is stuck in upright position

It's frustrating, but it's a common mix of vague documentation and un-obvious operation for a lot of Dyson uprights. Per the manual (
https://www.dyson.co.uk/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/UK/floorcare/Manuals/dc27_uk_manual_alf_120710%20pdf.pdf ), look at page 4, you put your foot on the base of the unit and pull back with conviction on the handle. It should move. If it's feeling really iffy, make sure that the hose assembly is fully clicked into the base.

Be aware that the brush bar won't spin until the unit is reclined. This is a common feature in Dysons, since this is the position where it re-routes the suction into the handle for use of accessory heads.

Good Luck!

Handle vacuum no suction

Hi there,
I have made a video of the two most likely causes for lack of suction in the handle of your dyson DC07. Watch the video and see if it helps. The other thing to check is your washable filter, this can cause a big resuction in suction if dirty. If this is helpful take a moment to leave a testimonial or a thumbs up please.
Hope your back to full suction soon. :)

The wandcap for my dyson vacuum doesn't stop the air from flowing though the wand. If your first responce is what model dyson ---then don't bother responding.

The cap on the DC07 should allow air to flow through when the handle is in the upright position. When you pull the handle back, there shouldn't be suction in the handle.

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

No suction when using the hose.

The beater bar is supposed to stop when the vac is upright. Sounds like you have a clog. There are several access points to check, fairly easy to clear obstructions.

The vacuum works through the wand only. how do you get the vacuum to revert to the floor usage

You have to put your foot on the front of the machine and pull the handle back. If it is a case of poor suction that you are experiencing, call the Dyson helpline, they will troubleshoot a possible blockage with you.

Suction loss when handle is tipped back to clean carpet

can any one help,
Our Dyson Animal vacuum has plenty of suction when it is upright and the attachments are being used off the hose, but when the handle is tipped back to begin cleaning carpets the beater head is getting no suction. As the handle is being tipped back you can hear what sounds like a flapper valve in the body of the vacuum opening and then all the suction just goes away.
