Humidifier leaks My humidifier leaks whater. How do I stop that from happening?

  • aeea Dec 31, 2007

I am missing something. I have 3 hard pieces and 1filter. When I unpluged the cord the leaking started. Then I removed the filter and not than, but later that day all of the water leaked out. If you can, I need some directions please. When I leave home and have unpluged the cord what do I do next to keep the water in the tank.Vicks V3500

My Air-O-Swiss U7142 has a leak from the very bottom. I found that as long as the water flows on to the "pan" that evaporizes the water, the water will come out from the bottom. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Set it out with the trash — ours did the same thing right out of the box; it's not a drip but a stream!  PS, there's nothing to kink.  And, of course, if you empty the reservoir, there will be no leak, for there's no water in the thing!

He had a similar problem, the humidifier was leaking. We figured it was from being on an unlevel surface. When we moved it to another location that we thought might be closer to level, the problem was resolved.

Not valid for a V5100. There are no hoses.

I have a similar problem. Water is running down the feed tube into the right side of the humidifier housing and onto the floor. I am ordering a new feed tube and plastic frame for the element. Hope this works.

Usually they leak at the top of the tank where the handle is! Check for cracks and even fill and place in stopperd sink unside down overnight to see if it's losing water. If it is, replace the tank- they run about 25.00 for the 2.5 gallon size! I just went throught this!

If water drips or pools at the base of your humidifier: 1) Disconnect the power. 2) Check the pan or reservoir and empty it if necessary. 3) Be sure the wick, hose, or other water-delivery system isn't kinked or fouled.

SOURCE: Humidifier Gives Off an Odor

Odors are common because water stagnates in the tank. 1) Unplug the unit. 2) Empty the reservoir, mop up any damp areas, and clean the tank and evaporator belt with a mixture of one gallon water. Add 2 tablespoons of chlorine bleach to the water for stubborn smells.

My homedic s humidifier is leaking.I turn it on in the evening and next morning I see it in a puddle of water.Happens every time.

Chances are it is just condensation not leakage if it's only wet when its running. Nothing you can do except put a towel under it.

Water coming into humidifier has recently begun to leak out from connection to the discharge tube.

THE WATER CONNECTION TO THE INPUT OF THE HUMIDIFIER IS LEAKING? - -IF THIS IS THE CASE, SHUT OF THE WATER SUPPLY TO THE HUMIDFIER, UN-SCREW THE INPUT CONNECTION, USING SOME PLUMBING WHITE CONNECTION TAPE, WRAP A COUPLE OF TURNS UNTO THE THREADS, RE-CONNECT AND TURN ON THE WATER SUPPLY. IT SHOULD STOP LEAKING.
IF ITS THE OUTPUT OF THE HUMIDIFIER OR DISCHARGE TUBE, THIS IS NOT UNDER ANY WATER PRESSURE LIKE THE INPUT IS, AND IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE HOSE MAY BEJUST LOOSE OR CRACKED AT THE HUMIDIFIER. CUT OFF THE HOSE AND RE-ATTACHING WILL WORK OR MAY EVEN NEED A NEW HOSE.

What happens if the humidifier runs out of water? Humidifier is new and working fine. I Does the humidifier shut off automatically when it runs out of water?

The humidifier has a float valve in it much like a toilet tank does. If the water gets to low, the float valve should allow more water to enter the tank automatically. When it reaches the proper level, the float valve stops the water. The water line (either copper or plastic) coming into the humidifier should have a shutoff valve on it. Make sure that it is turned on.

Water flow from humidifier never stops. Even when furnace is off.

No, it will not stop flowwing if it is the water supply. A solenoid valve opens the flow everytime there is a call for humidity, but it stops at the humidifier when there is no call, so it will leak from that point until it is fixed or tightened.

Aprilair 760 Humidfier will not stop water flow to EV panel

If the water continues runs nonstop even when the heater is turned off, you might have either a bad solenoid valve or a bad humidistat. Simply disconnect one of the two low voltage wires going into the unit. If the water turns off then your problem is most likely your humidistat or the low voltage wiring. If the water continues to run even when the low voltage is disconnected you have a defective solenoid valve.
Good luck.......
