Brinks 42-1020 is analog timer with 48 segments (pins) located around edge of dial.
Each segment (pin) represents 15 minutes in 24 hour day.
Segments on this timer push down and outward.

I have a brinks 44-1011 timer would like to know how to turn completely off when not in use. Turn the clock off and everything

Copy following link to help identify timer:

Frequently the timer restarts at next set point.
Only a few timers have full off-on by-pass capability.

Try resetting timer
Add a comment and describe timer in detail so it can be identified.
Buy another Brinks from Walmart and return defect in new package.
Buy Intermatic, Woods, GE timers instead of cheaper-made Brinks, First Alert, Westek, Westinghouse, Timex etc

How to set a Brinks indoor light timer 42-1023

Geno has definitely got the solution (thanks, Geno!), and the only thing I would add is that the appliance will be on when the pins along the outside of the dial are pushed down, and off when the pins are raised. You raise the pins up/out with your fingernail, and it doesn't take much effort: just gently raise them until they stop.

I'm guessing these timers were not packaged with instructions - usually I can figure stuff out pretty easily on my own, but these timers seem especially cryptic about how to operate them. I'm glad I found the instructions on this site :)

I have a brinks timer 42-1010 how do i set timer

1) Open following link to identify timer and download possible manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#Brinks

2) You can contact Hamptonproducts.com and they will send manual.

3) If you have a manual and cannot understand it, then add a comment and say what part of manual is confusing, and what you have tried so far, and what load you are wanting to turn on-off. Not every timer is right for every application, so clear identification of what you want to do is best.
