Re:
When room temperature drops lower than the set temperature on the thermostat, it usually means that the thermostat is improperly calibrated or installed where it doesn't sense a proper sampling of room air.

check filter replace if necessary --if coil behind is iced up let unit thaw dont scrape and when thawed use a spray bottle with some dish washer soap and spray down coil to clean it --if coil is warm or room temperature low on freon or compressor malfunction
A few months ago my air conditioning unit was having cooling issues too. However, the mechanic that came and fixed it said that it was because we constantly blasted it and kept the temperature really low. How cold are you trying to keep your room? Sometimes it has to do with the system freezing up from trying to keep it too cold. Air Conditioning in Chetek WI Stellar Heating Solutions
most home air conditioners go as low as 18 c but this low setting achieves nothing but a high power bill
the purpose of air conditioning ( air conditioning -- to condition the air) is to remove the humidity ( water vapour ) form the air and allow the body to perspire more freely and so is by the evaporation of the perspiration of the body water that cools the body
this evaporation is hastened by the fact that the water vapour in the air is very low due to the air conditioner operation of conditioning the air
Now knowing this fact it is obvious that all the windows and door should be kept closed ( to remove the humidity from the room /house and so a setting of 25-26 c is sufficient to keep you cool
because the temperature difference between outside air and room air is low the air conditioner cycles less frequently and costs less to run
if the room setting is at minimum and the atmospheric temp is high then the air conditioner is running virtually all the time
so instead of asking what is the minimum temp you should be asking what is the optimum temp run to be conformable and to save on power costs
Air conditioners can only drop the temperature of the room temperature a maximum of 15 to 20 degrees F. A 95 degree F room temperature can drop to a maximum temperature of 75 to 80 degrees F. If the room temperature drops from 95 to 85 degrees F, Then the problem is having too small of a btu rating on the air conditioner or refrigerant has leaked out the sealed system which can affect the amount of cooling performance. You will have to buy a higher rated btu rated air conditioner if the temperature of the room drops by only 10 degrees F. Air conditioners are rated by how much heat that can be removed each hour. The more humid it is, the more work an air conditioner has to do. They cannot do more work than the btu rating that is listed on each air conditioner.
The air sensor is part of the thermostat assembly. It controls the room temperature to whatever temperature it is set at. If the temperature varies too much, you may need a new thermostat. Other problems could cause various temperatures in the room. Low on refrigerant, due to a leak in the sealed system. Water in the system freezes and thaws to cause larger temperature variances.
please test your aircon with digital temperature meter i mean take first room temperature data then check your aicon flow air temperature it should be lower than to 20-22 degree Celsius if it,s not low like this
then it can be low freon problem in your aircon system.
Lowering the temperature setting doesn't change the temperature of the air coming out of the unit it just lets it run until the room temperature gets colder. Check the temp of the air coming out of the unit. If it isn't as cold as it used to be the charge could be low. First though you should make sure the filters are clean and the coils. You should also check the actual room temp. It's also possible the unit doesn't have enough capacity to keep up with the cooling load of the room.
