My air conditioner doesn't turn on, what do I look for?

The electricity went off then back on quickly, after that the airconditioner will not come on at all, not even a light. I checked to make sure 220 was coming thru the plug and it is. Please Help

If your room air conditioner doesn't go on at all: 1) Check the power source first: be sure it's plugged in and turned on. 2) Then check the outlet by unplugging the air conditioner and plugging in a light that works (only for standard-voltage models--do not plug a light into a 220/240-volt receptacle!). 3) If the light doesn't go on, the circuit has probably overloaded--check the electric panel or fuse box and reset the breaker or replace the fuse. 4) If the light works, it's likely that the air conditioner's switch is faulty or the thermostat needs adjustment or repair. 5) Be sure the thermostat is set to "cool" and below room temperature. 6) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for thermostat repair. If adjusting or repairing the thermostat doesn't solve the problem, unplug the unit and call an air conditioning technician.

Turns on but doesn't put out air

MAke sure you have it leaned back and that water is dripping from it in the back if not do so if water still isnt drippin than screw some holes in the bottom so it can drip if it doesnt work than it might have blown up

It doesn't take the humidity out of the air. It alsocausesdampness in the air and cloth furniture, etc. When I first bought the airconditioner it removed the humiidity and cooled my apartment just fine...

My Amana AAC101SRA doesn't cool like it used to. We have cleaned the filter, but that doesn't seem to help. Should we call a repairman or think about getting another unit?

Is the outdoor coil blocked? Is the outdoor coil clean? Is the compressor running when you start unit. When you turn unit off after running it can you hear a hissing sound from within?

The air conditioner cools the room but it shuts of. The power light doesn't come on while unit is on. Can I replace the plug?

"The air conditioner cools the room but it shuts of." -- Temperature reached, but does not turn back on automatically? Stops short of reaching temperature? Shuts off for a period, but will come back on only to shut off again later?
Most importantly, how do you get it to turn on again?
"The power light doesn't come on while unit is on." -- If the unit is on and the power light is not, then the power light must not be operating (is burnt out).
Actual answer: "Can I replace the plug?" -- Of course you can.
What is causing you to feel that the plug needs replaced?
