Thanks for your help. Now I won't have to take the turntable into a Sony dealer. The fix was right on, and even I could do it!

Your first suggestion did the job! Granted, if I had only used my brain I might have figured it out, but my brain went on vacation and I was delighted that you came to my rescue! Thanks!

Usually, for most turntables, the belt goes on the bottom of the platter first. Then you put the platter back on the turntable. From here you should see an opening on the platter where you can 'grab' the belt. Pinch the belt, and then wrap it around the rotating motor's shaft. This is usually at the top left side - around the 10 o'clock position.

Can't get the darn to work

Remove the drive belt and see if the turntable spins, if it does the drive motor is faulty, if it doesn't then (if this is a new turntable) it's possibly got a locking device to hold the turn table steady during shipping.

I received a SONY PS-LX250H turntable with the drive belt off. Where do I route the drive belt to get it back on?

The Operating and Install Guides are here...

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=C310321&fes=true&mdl=PSLX250H

Follow this procedure to install the belt on the turntable.
  1. Lift up on the dust cover [FIG. 1] and remove it from the turntable base [FIG. 1].
  2. Remove the rubber mat [FIG. 1] from the platter [FIG. 1].
  3. Lift the platter straight up off the spindle [FIG. 1].
  4. Slip the drive belt around the under side of the platter [FIG. 2]. IMPORTANT: Line up the ribbon that is attached to the belt with the square opening near the edge of the platter .
  5. Place the platter back on the spindle .
  6. Spin the platter so the square opening on the platter is over the motor pulley [FIG. 1].
  7. Stretch the drive belt [FIG. 3] over the motor pulley by pulling the attached ribbon [FIG. 3].
  8. Remove the ribbon from the drive belt .
  9. Reinstall the rubber mat and the dust cover .

Model PS-LX300USB Turntable Drive Belt

Hi Norman

Normally the belt does not go through any special tensioners or anything of that nature,The belt should go directly from the spindle motor onto the inside of the platter. Hook the belt on the motor section and lay the belt open wide inside the turntable. Next, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platterinside through the two large holes

The drive belt on my Aiwa px-e860 turntable has come off. how do i put it back on

Lift felt on platter and and lift the platter section off the unit by putting your thumb and forefinger through the two large holes and pull upwards. There should not be any special routing for the belt and should go directly onto the spindle motor to your platter. Place the belt around the inside rim of the platter while it is still off the unit. Now replace the platter and move the platter around until you see the spindle motor through one of the holes. Use some tweezers to manouvre the belt onto the spindle motor. On some units you will have to lay the belt out inside the unit, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platter. Hope this helps

Drive belt routing

BASIC INSTALLATION: Most belts are easily replaceable. It involves removing the turntable platter (usually metal and they usually just pull straight up off of the spindle). The belt is placed around the inner lip of the platter. Platter is replaced onto spindle and then, through one of the holes in the platter, reach your fingers in, grab the belt from the inner lip of the platter, and stretch the belt around the capstan or motor shaft. You are done. Some turntables are a little more involved, but most are simple. Check yours out. I was helped by a nice gentleman on the e-bay auction.

Belt Replacement?

ahh! same thing happened to me during a move. quite frustrating, but a simple fix: remove the plate and look at the underside. here you'll see a ring around it, place the belt around that ring. there are 5 holes total, one small in the center, two larger ones to the side, and two rectangular ones on the edge. as you're putting the plate back onto the player, grab the belt through one of the rectangular holes and place that part of the belt around the cylindrical moving post to the upper left the same time as you put the plate back in place. it sounds confusing, but it's simple, i swear. let me know if i can clarify anything for you.
