During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to IDE-1 means Pri slave escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
you will have to have master with slave set up
you can find the jumper location next to the power on a hard drive and the settings for plastic jumper location is usually printed on the top of a hard drive
IDE-0 means Pri master ?
IDE-1 means Pri slave ?
IDE-2 means Sec master ?
IDE-3 means Sec slave ?

I have a 4 channel Sunluxy H.264 Network DVR, I have fitted a 300gb HDD but although the system is working and I get the 4 cameras on screen the message I keep getting on boot up is HDD not found

Guys this one stumped me for some time, here is my solution that worked like a dream

1. plug the hard drive you are using into a pc and check the hard drive is recognise and works.
2. Delete all partitions
3. ensure it has a 8 bit cache buffer!! This is the most important one. That means the system only supports older hard drives. I got 2 second hand ones from the local pc store for $50. See the list of hard drives that are know to work below.

MANUFACTURER MODEL CAPACITY ROTATION
ST3320613AS 320GB 7200 rpm
ST33500320AS 500GB 7200 rpm
ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 rpm

WD5000AACS 500GB 7200 rpm
WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 rpm

Maxtor STM3500320AS 500GB 7200 rpm

HITACHI HDT725032VLA360 320GB 7200 rpm
HDS721010KLA330 1000GB 7200 rpm

FYI for some reason the person I bought this off online "Ebay" had no idea how to support and I could not get support from their web site as they email they give just bounces back.

Cheers.

I using external CASE and connected in USB port.. but its detcting but it not shown in my computer.. i need anwswer plz.. is any JUMPER to place?

SATA drives do not have any jumpers.
If you were the one who mounted the EIDE drive into the external-case, be sure to set the jumper to "master" (not "slave", and not "cable-select").

Try connecting the external case to a different computer, to see if the unit works at all.

Remove the disk-drive from the case, and connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in some desktop computer, to see if it can be detected at all, when _not_ using the USB-to-Disk-Drive adapter.

How do I set my 7200 Seagate drive as slave

Look at the diagram on the drive, you will need a jumper

MA = Master
SL = Slave
CS = Cable Select

If it's EIDE use the center connector on the cable

Unable to boot the computer.

have you check the jumper to see if there are master or slave settings. depending on your cdrom make sure if one is master the other is slave.

SATA HDD make SLAVE

IDE Cable with 3 connectors (you have 1 or need to buy 1) :
- blue: conn to motherboard
- black: conn to master HD
- grey: conn to slave HD
Cable (select:) cable will auto detect with most modern HD's from same type (SATA it was i think) and you need to go to you're BIOS, set up cable select for the HD's. Maybe best to set up master first, not both at same time. If you have a SATA and ATA set up the master first, then other. So if SATA is slafe but it in grey connector, otherwise black. For an ATA you might need a converter cable for the power, most motherboards don't have 1.
