The TV comes on for about 3 seconds. As soon as you can here the sound the tv shuts of by itself. I can't see any picture. There's a red light on the front of the tv near the power switch. This light comes on steady for about 3 seconds and then the tv shuts down and the little light starts blinking. It just started all at once.

Re: TV not staying on
If you're NOT still under warranty you should at least open the TV and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace.
Check the fuse. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs.
You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet.
In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer.
All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace
If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced.
good luck!

Hello! Does sound comes out of TV speakers? Or you have "home theater" hooked up to? In first occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display blinks once, then nothing? Inverter is at fault. Second occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display glows dark, sound OK, no picture: T-con board at fault. Third occasion: TV turns on, shuts off, sound is coming through "home theater"-OK. Power supply or inverter, or T-con are at fault. TV need major diagnostics and repair in every case. Let me know if you can handle that. Will guide you through the process. Thanks, Alex.
The television is shutting itself off to protect itself. The blinking light is a code pattern. The specific code determines whether or not you need an LCD Controller Unit, Main Board, power supply or something else. You would need the service manual. There are parts distributors you can get it from and the parts as well. If soldering and tv repair is not something you are entirely familiar you may want to seek a tv repair person. The manufacturer's support may walk you through the service menus to complete a factory reset depending upon the symptoms.
Hello there, I'm having a major problem with my TV, I have called all
of the local TV repair shops and they all are the same, they want money
money money before they will even speak with me about the problem I'm
having. This is the only TV in my entire household for a family of 4
and we desperately need the TV in working condition for our kids. I
don't want to have to put out $500 for another set if I don't
absolutely have to.
The Problem...
About 3-4 months ago the TV when turned on, the picture would slowly
come into view and be very scrambled and before the picture would come
into complete view the TV power would shut itself off, but the power
light would remain on. You can hear the "Click" noise when it would
shut itself off.
2-3 seconds after it 'shut itself off' then the TV would make the
"Click" noise (The same noise it makes when you first turn it on), it
would make the "Click" noise over and over and over again but nothing
would happen. So i would turn it off and on again and change the
channel rapidly until after 2-3 minutes it would come into view and
work.
So we decided to leave the TV on 24 hours a day. Then today we awoke
and it was off and making the "clicking" noise over and over and over
again but with no picture or sound. Now it wont even turn on/off it
just sits there and goes "Click, Click Click Click" and doesn't do
anything.
I described the problem as best as I can. Here is the TV information and specifications...
Philips 27 Inch Tube TV
Model Number... 27PT54 3S37A
Serial Number... 78438404
105 Watts
60HZ
120V
Date Code March 2003
-------
Now that I typed the model number there are threads everywhere people
saying the same issue exactly as me, I will read them but please
someone tell me is there anything I can do...
Can anyone explain exactly what is wrong with the Tv and why it's doing this?
Also, what should I expect to pay to repair it?
Any information or help would be appreciated very much.
Thanks in advance,
Anthony
Just got off the phone with certified Philips shop...they said they
will repair it for $100-$130 with a $25 down payment just drop it off
and he will call me when its done. Does this sound like its worth it or
