Not a DSL line, Not an interference and it presents the same problem here in Brazil and in US, therefor, it is a really an intrenal malfunction. I've contacted VTECH, but have got no answer so far. I couldn't even get its schematic diagram to try to fix it for myself.
The solution seems to be 'throw it away' and buy a better quality phone or, at least, a better wordwide represented phone manufacturer.

Go to the HP website for your region. Click on the Support link and lookup your specific model #. Select Vista as the o/s. The software/driver file should appear. Download and install. You should be all set. Hope this helps.
